Is it just me, or can nobody get away with sarcasm nowadays. I see people all the time being obviously sarcastic, but theres always sum1 that takes it seriously. So, only to be fair, sarcasm can no longer be used in threads.

That's weird. Somehow all the immature people that post on that other site were able to figure out how to indicate their sarcasm. Wonder why all the wise adults over here couldn't do that?

1) Who the $#%* does Brandon Kee think he is?

2) I thought this country was about freedom of speech

3) Joe Umali hides behind sarcasm as his primary defense

4) Dan Smith is out of his league in here

5) Dave Williams has no sense of humor

6) I don't have the time for any of this, I am too busy for this place and don't really care anyways

7) <<< just because I like it

I'll never make it. I've long since lost the ability to take anything on here seriously.

While we're at it, let's ban irony as well.

Why would anyone take anything serious that someone wrote on a message board? In reality you don't even know most these people.

You people think your much cooler than you really are. Just accept the fact that I am cooler than you. Quit wasting my time and lets get back to business.

Being serious, I think the use of the emoticon to indicate sarcasm is a total sell out and makes it too easy for people.

Sarcasm is a nuanced skill that requires wit, charm, patient and precise timing, a broad range of knowledge, and most importantly an unexpecting and completely horrified contingency in order for it to have maximum effect.

If it wasn't for people completely not getting it and overreacting, sarcasm would go the way of toilet jokes and be left on the grade school playgrounds with the rest of the juveniles who find poopie jokes funny.

Personally, I think all of you are pathetic. Especially that Chase guy who seems to think he is funny. Dork

Old     (rocketdogg)      Join Date: Oct 2006       02-10-2008, 5:41 AM Reply
you people that don't use your real names and hide behind some nic on massage boards are total losers.

***notice the lack of any emoticons***

Using an emoticon is very much like saying "I don't think you quite have the intelligence, personality, or humor quotient to really get the joke. Basically ...I think your just kinda slow."

Emoticons are used by smart people that have to communicate to dumb people. I just forgo their use all together, simply because I try not to associate with that crowd. There is a theory that if you ignore dumb people they will eventually just go away.

Mr. BSW, even after editing it 2 times, he still spelled 'message' incorrectly. Unless he really meant 'massage board', in which case, I can completely understand people not using their real names.

Editing for typos is lame. Editing to add content...a totally different level of play. Typos only bother people like Dan. For the most part, rational people usually get where you are going, and can overlook trivial matters.

But like small shiny objects on the side of the road, a simple misspelling can divert the total attention of a complete retard.

Does the fact that I only have 14 posts make me a useless newb? You know, someone who is capable of adding nothing to this forum?

Would the fact that I am a Level 10 gymnast add to my legitsmanship status?

Would the fact that I scored a 29 on my ACT mean that I am smart enough to give people my opinions on topics that have nothing to do with school?

Brandon all you did was create a thread for a troublesome mind to express himself seriously and yet not be taken serious.

slacker if you are a level 10 gymnast then there must be about 100-200 levels.

BSW, If I'm not mistaken, I think the "Level 10 Gymnast" title is taken:-) You might have to bump your skills to a level 11 now.

slacker, feelings can't get hurt in a sarcasm thread. You have been banished for the next 17 minutes. You can return when you have changed out of your skirt, Alice.

No soup for you.
