I keep hearing that it is really really big chasing the G23 in size. Anyone ridden yet and have any info to add? Or pics?

This is just a stock wake (I think), https://scontent-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...68496551_n.jpg

Will probably get huge once it's loaded with weight

I have not seen it first hand, just heard from others that have ridden behind it.

The wave is on youtube. I know when the A24 came by me on the lake pulling a rider, the rollers were huge.

i rode a fully loaded a24 with wedge down. I've also ridden the g23. The a24 wake was completely different than the G with the wedge down. It was tall and steep. It kind of reminded me of a loaded SAN 230 in size and shape. The G is super tall with a really long transition so it has a completely different feel. I'm about 5'8" and the a24 wake was somewhere between my waist and knee in height. It popped really hard and was pretty narrow and I rode at like 75 feet at 23.5 mph. Sorry I didn't end up taking any photos but it was a really fun, big wake that didn't require much effort to get booted off of. I'm sure the transition would be more gradual with the wedge up making it shape up more like an MXZ wakesetter.

It's nothing like the G23. Like Preston said it will shoot you up quick. I rode the boat that was supposed to be Dean Smith's, so it had all the extra ballast. I liked the wake, but honestly it's not as good as the G in my opinion. I guess my assumption isn't all that great because I had a screwed up back when I rode it, but can assure you the G23 is bigger with the same amount of weight in the boat. Surf wake was pretty slick though, but so was the A22 that I rode behind loaded with surfgate. I liked the A24, but if I decided to upgrade from my A22 it would probably be for another 22 with the gate and 450. If I had a lot of money to blow I would get a G23. . .

Yea I wasnt saying that it was exact same size or shape as G just had heard it was in same ballpark as size which very few boats are. Just wanting to make sure before I make an order, may not get to ride it before I order

It sounds like you will be in good shape. Order it. Which color scheme are you going to get?

It's a sweet wake for sure. I liked the boat a lot. . . the 2014 compared to my 2011 has improved a lot. Given my back was screwed up I didn't ride long and my comparison might not be the best to go by. I've seen a pic of a lot of weight thrown in that boat and i'm sure it could be just as big if not bigger than the G. but it wasn't given when I rode it. I've had more experience in the G23 too so that could make my decision a little easier as of now. Either way the 22 or the 24 you're getting is an outstanding wake. . . i saw you have the 22 already. I don't think I could ever justify getting another boat besides Axis. I thought the A22 wake is similar to the G shape, just smaller. Good luck, wish I was in your shoes cuz when I went and rode these boats I wanted to trade in a heartbeat.

Yea I love my a22 but I am in a position to upgrade to the 24 for very little money. if I can sell mine. I havent had much traffic on it not sure if I havwe the price right. dealer told me he coudl do close to 50 on trade in for it. I have it listed in classifieds. too high?? I love my a22 but I am scaed to keep it too long with the amount of hours I put on boats. usually 200+ a year

What sucks is for all the people with the 2013 or older boats will have a little tougher time selling them now that the 2014 has Surf Gate. I am looking at a 2014 just solely based on it having Surf Gate. I don't surf much but I like having the option.
Old     (ajf4242)      Join Date: Aug 2008       09-19-2013, 10:19 AM Reply
mase, have you ridden the surf gate yet? I haden't until I went to the factory. . . it is really sweet even if your not a surfer, worth the price because people will expect it. Have you seen the lime green liquid force edition? that thing is slick.

I like surfing but I would never buy a boat based on the surf wake. Its fun if I have had a few or the lake is blown but I live to wakeboard. surfing is a fun hobby when I get frustrated wakeboarding. that said I am excited about surfgate. I got a really good quote on the 24 with the ls3 and surfgate! Heres mine http://www.wakeworld.com/classifield....php?view=3693 is that where I need to be?

You have two prices listed. You are pretty close to where you need to be. Those wetsounds should be a selling point. My buddy sold his 2012 at the beginning of this sumer for 45k. It had 86 hours on it without the tricked out trailer or wetsounds. It was a pretty basic from factory. He had it priced at 52k in March, lowered it to 48k in April and May, near the end of May he lowered it to 45k and it sold immediately. It was a smoking deal in my opinion at 45k.

I agree. I was tempted to buy it myself at 48k and was when he dropped it to 45k. He had most of it paid off and was getting out of owning a boat cause of a DUI and finding a gf that doesn't like the water.

I sent you a message. Check your inbox.

Well, I would say wait until you see our new kids play.... but that didn't work out last year.

I'm happy the national champions stayed in the state. Hope it happens again this year too.

I wonder the fuel consumption difference between the A22 with 335 and an A24 with 450 in it? That was my main concern and the reason I bought the 14' A22 Vandall. I love it. Surfgate was worth every Pennie and I only surf about 2% of the time.
Old     (superair502)      Join Date: Mar 2010       09-19-2013, 7:50 PM Reply
Yea dtb that's the only thing I am a little hesitant about. My a22 sips gas for how I weight it. That 24 with the ls3 will have a monster wake I bet tho.

Come on man... you splurge on a 2014 boat purchase and are worried about which V8 burns more fuel than the other as a major deciding factor between the hulls? Difference would be so minimal vs. the net gain of a larger boat, bigger wake and more horsepower. You could invite 2 more people to come out (since you have the extra room) and have them chip in minimal gas $ and you would never notice the difference vs. A22 with the base motor. On with discussion and hopefully A24 wake pics.

I mean yea a little I remember riding in old school x stars with the 6.0 and burning a whole tank in 6 sets. That would be a deal breaker. Just because someone buys a new boat doesn't mean they want to dump unlimited amounts of premium fuel into it...

^^^agreed. I'm not buying a boat I have to fuel twice a day.

I agree with you guys on fuel! When gas pushes back into the $4.50 a gal range and your asking your buddies for $30 a set you might start finding it hard to get that third! That's also why I like my boat now and am hesitant to step up to a 23' boat with a 6.0.

20 bucks a set? How long is a set? If your boat burns 5gal/hr or less like people say, then my typical 15-25 minute set, I wouldn't think would cost $20...?
Old     (superair502)      Join Date: Mar 2010       09-20-2013, 8:10 AM Reply
We slam it and run wedge. 5 gal a set is just kind of the going rate for a set regardless if it burns less or more it is just kind of understood. I may have a few bucks left over on the back end. But that's pretty fair considering I am the one dumping all the money into the boat and most ppl that come out with me are kids with no money invested In it themselves. Not to mention most people I ride with take longer than average sets and it's a nice round number it's hard getting people to bring 16$

I have an A22 with the LS3 in it depending on the day I can get 6-8 hours on a tank. I am at sea level with the cinco prop. Mase what does yours burn?
Old     (rugbyballa3)      Join Date: Feb 2013       09-20-2013, 11:47 AM Reply
20 bucks is the going rate. and to ride 2 sets in a day for 40bucks and not have to worry about the cost of owning a boat or anything. people should be grateful. i have it set so i can ride as much as i want and i dont pay for gas. i have to make the 500 a month payment, the insurance, and pay for maintenance. so i dont pay for gas. i guess thats the good part about being a boat owner. i make the rules and if someone doesnt like them they dont need to ride. maybe i am a dick but asking someone to come out of pocket 20 bucks a set? that doesnt seem bad to me.

I can't say one bad thing at all about the guys I ride with. They will chip in $40 every or every other time we ride.

I rode it. It's big and has a ton of pop. Oh and it's consistent and clean as axis usually is. I actually liked a bit better with no wedge, as it tones it down a bit. With wedge down, you better be ready for a big lippy pop.

Looks a little funky in this pic, but oh well. I think we were sitting a bit uneven in the boat.

Full speed. It wasn't my boat and it was a quick like 15 minute set no extra bags in the boat. The wake was nice and throws you up. I don't think any picture shows you how great a wake really is. With all the room in that boat you could make that wake huge. Interior is sweet and it rode great and drove great.

Less than u expect! I got a quote from the dealer but I cannot share it although I will say I have been very surprised. The ls3 option is the most expensive option tho. Very pricey but should be worth it. The a20 to a22 to a24 seem to be about an equal jump in pricing however
Old     (boardjnky4)      Join Date: Dec 2011       09-30-2013, 3:52 PM Reply
Yep price is in line with the other axis models.

The wake is mackin, but they've kept the boat simple as they usually do with the axis line to keep costs down. Great wake and boat for the money, surfs great too as the one posted above does have surfgate. I surfed it with zero ballast changes. It was huge, long and had tons of push.

what does that mean, though, price wise? What should someone expect to pay (maybe somebody gets a better deal and someone gets a worse one, but this is the median) for a SG, LS3, wedge, PnP, otherwise moderately optioned boat? Under $70k? More than $85K?
Old     (seangriswold)      Join Date: Apr 2006       09-30-2013, 4:43 PM Reply
I believe you are looking at around 70-76 or so with those options....just an educated guess and I am sure it will depend on options and how much metal flake you put on it....if you trick out the trailer etc....I cant imagine 85k because then you are getting into the malibu price range....either way it is not close to the price of a G..for those of us who are comparing it to a G
Old     (superair502)      Join Date: Mar 2010       09-30-2013, 5:36 PM Reply
It means that the increase from the a20 to a22 is pretty proportional to what the a22 to a24 is. If your dealer sells an a22 for 9k more than an a20 then I would expect the a24 is 9k more than the a22. If it's less than the increase should be less. That is what I have kind of gathered this far. Of course this is comparing base model to base model. If u obviously option them out different the increase isn't proportional.

Preston, I happened to be on the boat at the sales meeting when you took a pull on the A24. Quick cell phone clip.

a24 I spec'd with the 350 (which is supposedly all you need), big p'n'p, surfgate, chillax, basic options came to ~71k

Awesome value, if you ask me.

What type of speed control are they using on the Axis for 2014? I know on the Wakesetter series they are still using a paddlewheel as there factory speed control. You pay extra to upgrade to zero off or malibu gps cruise.

I ask because I have had less than desireable results with the paddlewheel and ended up installing gps cruise which was a huge upgrade in holding speed with no surging. I would think the A24 would demand a gps speed control.

Are you slamming the throttle all the way down and leaving it while riding? That causes it to surge more. Depending on the weight you have in the boat, your throttle should be adjusted by you accordingly.

The Nautic Laugic NL4-XL gps reciever works perfectly for a paddle wheel replacement. Check it out.

I am sure the A24 will also have the paddlewheel unless you get the upgrade from the dealer.

I have never had an issue with surging with my a22, and we ride pretty slammed. Just like a car, "cruise control" is something to assist with driving, not drive itself.

I tried the NL4-XL with less than desireable results on my '13 VLX. I actually had to send it back because it was literally the same results as the paddlewheel. The Malibu Cruise GPS plugged directly into the Maliview wiring harness and was like driving a new boat, locks speed dead on, quickly, with no surging issues even heavily weighted, very similar results to Zero Off GPS. The puck is also hidden under the helm, does not mount on the top of the deck which is nice not to see it.

I still cant figure out why Malibu is selling boats with a paddlewheel speed control, its antiquated technology. MB, Nautique, Mastercraft, etc. they all use a GPS based speed control standard, not sure why Malibu expects customers to pay more for something that should be a standard option imo. Especially on the Wakesetter series, these boats are already expensive enough.

I had the Nautic Laugic gps for perfect on my last boat and had awesome results with it. It fixed all surge and held speed well. I will probably give the NL4-XL a try too next summer. Sorry you had bad results with it.

So you guy that have been out in the boat with the ls3 is the fuel consumption super crazy? I noticed the boat has a 78?!? Gallon tank. Wondering if this is just so much bigger due to them having room or it's a necessity because it burns it that fast? If it was proportionate to the a22 the tank would be around 60 gallons
