so i put together this list as a guide for myself to try and learn the flip/spin combos. there are a few blanks - a lot with the switch and wrapped names, but im not as concerned with those. all names are from wakeboarder.com's trick list pages. anyone know another good source for trick names?

anyway, here's the list so far:

flip-spin

Thanks Chris, I just printed this out for myself. I've been meaning to do this myself for about a year!

a diesel is a frontroll w/ a backside 3 overhead, and you can add the spiderman, a whirlybird with your backhand instead of your front. Ricky Gonzalez does one in switch 22.

hey tyler, according to wakeboarder:

quote:

Diesel: A toeside Front Roll with a frontside 360. Handle is rotated above the head - Invented by Todd Brendel.

there's one in higher education - i'll have to watch it again and see. in fact, thinking about it - how would you do a backside 3 on a front roll? doesn't even seem possible...

and ya, i knew about the spiderman (i actually talked to ricky about it - he says he can't do it anymore). but that's just another variation and i already had two. but thanks.

im mostly trying to find the names of the ones i don't have at all - like a tantrum with a fs 3, ts front flip with fs 180/3, etc.

HS Front bs 3
Pierced **** (so I've heard)

the Ts frontflips with the fs rotations, not sure if they've even been done?

I could be wrong about the diesel... I've never actually seen one done, but that's what I've heard.

Front roll front flip? What's the difference?

There is also a Big Worm. I believe that it is a TS frontroll with an overhead 540. Not sure if you are just looking at tricks that go to 360 though.

Here is a clip of Sean Obrien at the Detroit stop this year, courtesy of Bill J. He lands a perfect Big Worm

There is another Whirlybird variation too. There is a trick called a Krook and it is a Whirlybird with a rewind to fakie. It is basically a whirlybird that you do a fs 180 on the way down. Shaun Murray does them in Mayday and I think I saw Andrew Adkinson do them in Scubs of the south.

I do not know the name of the trick but I have seen Shawn Watson throw a ts backroll with a fs 360 that is not a pete rose. Imagine just doing a ts 360. Now do that same spin with a ts backroll. It is nothing like a Pete Rose, but I am not sure what the name of the trick is. He also does it to 5 off of the double up. A great example of this is in Shawn Watson's section of the the movie My House. He lands two to 3 and one to 5. Other than that movie, I don't really see anyone else throwing that trick. Kind of wierd.

Jason, those are petes, but he starts spinning earlier in the rotation so it looks a bit different.

hey jason, ya i know about krooks and big worms, it just seemed like more info than necessary for the list - and yes, i was mostly just trying to limit it to 360s. at first i even didn't bother putting in the overheard versions, cause it's a slippery slope leading to reversals (krooks, elephants, etc.), and more.

steven, there's a difference between a front roll and a front flip. front roll is rail over rail - front flip is tail over tail. don't know if the distinction is carried over when you start adding turns...but wakeboarder.com (and pros i've heard from), are specific about the flavor flip and the fruit loop being front flips, not front rolls.
