Homemade sliders.. post up

looking for all those homemade sliders everyone is hitting out there..

Ethan ~~ Here in Utah we just threw our first one up. Mike made the design and I just helped him install it.

josh, how did u get the wood to stay in the bottom, is it sand??

We did the same thing but 2 1/2 x as long... Really muddy bottom so we hammered from the teak until we couldn't hammer anymore. However eventually pulled that thing out had one hell of a time doing it.

If you have access to a gas powered water pump with a firehose-style tip it makes putting posts into sand WAY easier. Haven't tried it with mud, but with the sand you just get it running, point it straight down into the sand (needs to be straight - you don't want your posts crooked) and it will blast a hole for you in seconds.

Here's a 92' rail we built at my camp last summer and a start rail off the deck at the slider lake at the same camp.

Ryan & Ethan ~~ We did the same as Paul. Mike cut points into the bottom on the 4 x 4's and we drove the hell out of them in the bottom. When Paul said it was a hell of a time to get them out, he was right. That was the first rail that we have put up and there only going to get better for here. Good luck to anybody trying to do sliders!

Yep, its at the woods. Unfortunately the 92' was just up for a couple weeks (it was in Rosseau and we're not allowed to have sliders in there permanently) - the start rail should still be there, but it was just staff who were allowed to hit it. Actually, we built it without getting the go-ahead from the "bosses" and they weren't too pumped on us hitting it... Gotta love insurance issues with big organizations

Maestro...I see Waterloo in your profile. If you need a fix for an early season pull give us a shout, we'll be out on Puslinch soon. Off to the OWC Saturday but should be on the water the following week.

this was an old slider that was left behind and it was cut down and put back together....and then ripped out few days later..fun little flat bar ....oh well

hey does anyone have any pics of a conoe slider, im thinking about doing one, but would like some ideas on how its done, thanks

maestro... that picture of the rider looking out into the lake (3rd one) is just sick

if i wanted to build an i dunno, 8' flatbar just to mess around , in fairly shallow water, but deep enough where i'm not gonna get hurt

how tough will this be? time, money? where can i check out the legal issues, and would it be possible to put it in the water when i'm using it and take it out when i'm not? like how do they stick into the bottom of the ground

We built one a few weeks back, it's 45 feet long (25ft flat sec). When we took the pics the pvc sheet wasn't on yet. The green flat bar is 20ft long and has composite decking on top.

The lake is dammed off, it's used as an irrigation canal. They drain it every winter which makes pounding 4x4's real easy. When the lakes full the green slider sits about 2ft above the water and were not sure about the white one yet but the water should sit just above the bottom of the ramps.
