Does this look like a good starter boat for a beginning wakeboarder http://www.wawaseeboatcompany.com/1989_ski_nautique.htm

Very pretty boat. How long has it been sitting in the water? You might want to haul it out and check the entire hull for osmotic blistering. Is that fresh or saltwater?

Fresh water. We just found it on the net. Going to go look at it this weekend. What are some problem areas to look for? from the picture the interior looks new.

Is that a closed cooling system shown? If it is, it's a plus. Find out what tranny and prop are on the boat. Look for cracks in the gel also

Very good boat, known for its excellent wakeboard wake. Doesn't look closed cooled to me (thats a muffler, stock on 89s). The bowls on the holley are leaking (or maybe were), but other than that it looks very clean, complete, bone stock 89. Nice find.

also check out www.the2001.com for more info.

No, CC made several model boats in that time period...the 2001 is just the most sought after hull/boat by wakeboarders. You can also check out www.correctcraftfan.com, there is a ton of old reference material available online.

Good luck in your search.

Scott, that isn't closed cooling. It is the muffler they used in 1989

My bad. My '88 MC has closed cooling and the resevoir looks similar, but positioned on side of motor. Clean CC!

she's clean, that for sure. red valve covers... what was it, Boss engine in the 90's nautiques? looks like a 351 tho.

At first glance, the engine is too clean to have 700 orig hours. But, the interior is immaculate too. just ask a few questions, they both could be redone.

I have an 89, great boat. Really the best of the 2001 series. That's the standard 240HP engine, yes it may have had or has a cracked bowl in the carb. Fairly common, but easy fix.

Check the floor for soft spots! Take a wrench and turn the bolts under the engine hatch, make sure they are not stripped.
Drive the boat, that was the first year of the 1.23 transmition, check the fluid and listen for a whine.
