Old    not as much but enough to make me get tripped over the front of the board, ala faceplant!            08-27-2001, 4:45 PM Reply
Ok i hit my first ever TS front a few weeks back but havnt been able to hit it again since.I either overrotate or underrotate which is what happens most of the time.I have been experimenting with everything and it isnt helping so i decided to try out some advice someone else was given a while back and indy grab the sucker to help stayed balled up.Now i went out yesterday and tried this about 5 or 6 times with no luck.I am definitly underrotating some and alot on others, about as far around as i got without the grab.I was wondering how much cut i should have as well as edge and how long should i grab the board? The longer i held the grab the less rotation i got so i was trying to hold it until i was just upside down then let go and try to get my feet under me but like i said underrotation .

The other problem i was having is when i cut real hard and overrotated i could have a landed a bunch except my back foot would start to go foward like my crows (not as much but enough to make me get tripped over the front of the board, ala faceplant!)except i drop my back hand early so i cant land the crow in this position(Rope in back hand).I can land crows pretty consistent and they have actually gotton better and more consistent since trying all these fronts.Anyway thanks in advance..

Any secrets to this grabbed and ungrabbed?

i think your problem lie in your rope placement. when you are under rotating its probably because you let your hand get really far away from your body. when you are over rotating and falling on your face its probably because you are keeping the rope in tight but you are pulling it to your stomach. what you want to do is make sure that you keep the handle on the backside of your hip when your landing. this way you can edge away from the boat. your arm is like a throttle. you have to find the median. when i do this trick i try and keep my elbow to my ribs while i rotate. this way i know i will come around. if i feel like i'm gonna over rotate i let my arm out a little to stop my rotation, but i push it in the direction of my behind. i hope this is clear enough for you to understand.

biwwy hit the nail on the head, but you might want to improve your toe edge(im just guessing without seeing it,) when you under rotate it.
p.s. where a wet suit it will save your balls...

I stopped trying for the grab ,waited a little later ,held the handle with 2 hands 3/4 of the way around and when i spot the water i drop my back hand and land. They havnt quite come all the wya around but last week i landed and rode away from 4 of them but still need just a bit more rotation .I acually stuck the last two attempts so i hope thats a good sign of things to come..later
