I plan on constructing a rooftop rail. The plans are there except for one missing piece to the puzzle. how wide to make the plastic that the board comes into contact with?! After talking to riders I have heard anywhere from 8" wide to 2 1/2' wide! What do you suggest?

Ours is 12 inches (2 trex wide) and absolutely perfect. Narrow enough to be tech but wide enough to not frustrate the crap out of you.

I've never ridden rails wakeboarding before, but from hitting rails on a snowboard, I'd think anywhere from 8 to 12 inches would seem to work? 2.5' seems like a ridiculously wide rail, it might as well be a box/slider. But then again its two completely different styles, so I'm really not sure. That's just probably the width i'd pick though if i were building one.

What's up Garrett! Yeah, 12 inches is money. It's a quality slide that requires effort, but isnt narrow enough to make you feel like your on a glorified hand rail.

I'm going to U of A Fayeteville, so i'll be up there come spring at least a couple of times.

Make sure it's not too steep. The mellower the better

12" wide is fine.

try not to exceed 15 degrees on your incline/decline angles.
