I heard someone put a diesel engine in a wakeboard boat and it's really fuel efficent. What do you guys think about that idea especially with gas prices being so high these days. I know that I have been struggling to put gas in my boat with prices being so high and im just curious to what other people think.
Thanks

diesel engines do work. you may need to do some modification to the engine mounting bcos of the bigger size of the engine. diesel does burn slower thus runs cheaper, n if there is diesel subsidy thats a extra plus. however, diesel marine engines aren't cheap. usually cost few times for than petrol ones. so it may not justify the extra cost unless you intend to run it commercially or for the long run.

I think its a great idea for wakeboard boats. I drive a diesel car and I get about 45 miles to the gallon. Diesel engines have peak power at approx 2000RPM while gas engines have peak power at around 4500+ RPM's. At wakeboard speeds a Diesel would be at or near peak effeciency while a gas engine is far under peak effeciency.

Too bad diesel smells so bad. I don't know if I could take 8 hours of inhaling diesel fumes.
