So this weekend we had serious issues getting on plane with our 537 prop. We had full ballast , wedge, and 7 people in the boat, not to mention my fat ass at the end of the rope . My question is does anyone have any recomendations for upgrading, and exp with doing so on the VTX with the extreme trailer? I've heard that there may be clearance issues with props like the 1235 and 1273 acme

The 1235 or even better imho the OJ 475 or 468 (if you cruise a lot this maybe too aggressive). All of these props fit just fine on a VTX w/ an extreme trailer.

Try the new "Fusion " prop from OJ, It's a lil cheaper than those listed. And it works just bout the same.

Really cruising isn't a big thing for us. I just hate that our hole shot is crap if I have weight, wedge and people. Actually if I just have wieght and full wedge it's a dog too. I've got the 340 monsoon, how much of a difference do you guys think I would I see with the OJ props?

Well it's more about the prop size/pitch then brands since CNC. I run the OJ 468 on my VLX and works perfectly, if I wanted to cruise more the 475 would be a better choice. At 5,200' the 468 would be my choice, but you'll wished you'd done it sooner. Most of the time both Acme and OJ allow you to exchange props for a different size, but a dealer may not. The Fusion seems to get some good feedback, though I don't have any experience w/ it myself.

Yeah Tommy's said they'd swap out a 1235 straight for my 537 as long as it doesn't have any nicks, which it doesn't. I've heard good things about the 1235, and I'm needing to get a much better holeshot. I seriously was pissed yesterday.

Ha ha, smart ass. Swapping out the 537 for the 1235 tomorrow. No more ass dragging at weight.

That's cool they'll do that, you'll be happy w/ that prop compared to the 537.

For that altitude I would suggest our 14 .25 X 14 LC 1 1/8" 4-blade.

Installed the 1235 this evening, will test tomorrow and let you guys know how it does. Tommys said they have never put the 1235 on a VTX and they want to know how it does too.

What all changes did you notice from it? Can you make the holeshot with full ballast and full wedge?

The boat gets out of the hole much better than before even with 3000+ in ballast i dont run a wedge. I think i lost about 3 mph on the top end but i rarely exceed 35mph so it wasn't much of a loss in my book.

Just got done running mine for the first time. Full wedge, full ballast, 4 people in the boat and me behind. No issues getting the holeshot, plained out right away. Much more responsive all around. Loved it.

One other thing I noticed about the prop is that it moved the best part of my wake back about 5 feet. Instead of riding at 75 feet for the best wake I ride at 80, will probably try 85 tomorrow to see how it is there.

So not much loss on the top end. On flat water can do about 40, which is all the speed I need
