Best Lake in Central/Southern Sierras?

Thinking about a vacation at a central/southern Sierra lake for a week of wakeboarding. Camping or small hotel / cabin. Went river rafting once on the Kings River above Pine Flat Lake - that looked pretty inviting. To keep it a reasonable drive I'm thinking as far north as Merced or Yosemite. Any feedback or other recommendations? Maybe take in a couple of lakes?

Pine flat is great. the only other thing we have in that area is Millerton Lake but it gets crazy during the summer.
