So turning 125k on the Yukon and wondering what you all recommend for replacement parts as I am not really a car/truck guy. starting to get some looseness when hitting the Chicago potholes.

I don't have the autoride/self leveling suspension.

Also any tips on installing them? I did the ones on an older Ford 150 and it was oretty straught forward, but again an older one.

Just did my 03 Tahoe, and it's extremely easy. Spray the existing bolts down with penetrating oil for a couple of days before you do the swap. I went with Monroe Reflex (OEM Z71 replacements) and am very happy with the ride. Part numbers 911505 and 911506.

Just changed all four shocks on my 02 Silverado and it was super easy to do. Took about an hour to hour and a half. Went with Rough Country, so far so good.

I installed Bilsteins on my Suburban a couple of years ago and have been very happy with them.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know how much these Bilsteins cost? I have a 2003 Yukon that is just over 100k miles.

Google returns the following website, which returns the following prices:

Front - $63.53/shock
Rear - $76.52/shock

Here's a tip, if you have an Autozone Auto Parts near you call them. They actually have them in the warehouse and I paid $60 each earlier this year for them.

Ordered up the bilsteins. My Autozone here said they could only get the fronts. Why I have no clue but called a second and they told me the same thing.

Just ordered them from http://www.shockwarehouse.com/index.cfm?mode=results&selected_model=700836&selec ted_year=2004

should be good to go Thanks for the help. Bilsteins were always rated good everywhere that they popped up.

A guy I work with has an identical truck and after I ordered mine I found out he used Monroes on his about 2 weeks ago. He went with the Sensa Track Load Leveling for the rear and Reflex for the front. He also had the standard suspension. So when I get mine all done up I can take his for a spin and mine to compare a bit.

My '01 Suburban does not have the AutoRide but IIRC the rears are a special design where they can pump themselves up when loaded down. You have to be moving for this to work. I know I've read about them online somewhere and the manual may mention this as well.

I put KYB monomax on my Silverado and it firmed the ride up. The Silverado is my budget tow vehicle so I didn't want to pop for the Bilsteins. Not sure I would put them on my Tahoe, might be a bit too stiff.

FYI for those that don't know. If your truck or SUV vehicle has the optional Z71 package then you have Bilsteins. At least prior to the new body style, can't speak for those. What impressed me was the fact that they offer way more control that you can really feel without bashing you around.

I'm surprised the stock Billsteins are really that good a shock. "A bit too stiff" is hardly what I'd call them on my Avalanche. It rides really nice compared to the Dodge I used to drive.

My 1999 Silverado Z71 did not have Bilsteins. From what I have read, in 99-06 Silverado's the shocks were manufactured by the same company that makes KYBs? That said the Monomax's are definately stiffer than any stock shock, maybe too stiff, but it sure corners well for a truck now.
