Installed my Merc Hi-5 19 pitch prop about a month ago, and WOW. Its like having a brand new boat. I have a 2007 Maxum 1800 SR3, and with this prop it is an unbelievable difference. Planes in seconds, tons of torque, Can ride at a much slower speed so the wake is much nicer. Cut a mph or 2 off the top speed, but I never haul ass anyway. With my sacs...I wouldn't change a thing.

Anyone else tried this?

The Merc High 5 is the best I/O prop on the market. They are really expensive though but by far the best thing going. Enjoy and glad you like your I/O that much better.

Ian - I run a custom pitched 20" on my Maxum 1800SR3 and love it too.... Wouldn't own an I/O without a high 5! Great prop.

Jay - They have a Torque Flow hub that will give if you hit junk... I'm not sure Mercruiser would be happy offering a prop that destroyed their gearboxes as soon as you hit anything...

The Torque Flow hub you are referring to - is that on there stock? Or are you referring to something you added?

Before I bought my first inboard in 96' I had a 21 ft. Searay Serento. I put a high 5 on it and what a differnce it made. Not sure if they have changed much in the last 10- 12 years...

For river cruising, I wish I had that boat back sometimes.

Ian - yeah the hub comes in the box (there's even a little dedicated space for it in there). Though saying that, I have known of cheapo ebay sellers taking the hub out and selling it separately to reduce their selling price by $10-15...
