Sorry Chip, your "investors hate words" comment freaked me out. So this is just a post of pics without any strings attached.

A desperate man :-) .

In this picture, the starboard side is our weak side. Both Dennis and his board are 6'2". That man can ride as far back as the next county over. :-)

which brand of board is that? I'm looking for a long board.
Old    surfdad            06-12-2006, 5:17 AM Reply
LOL! That's a board that I shaped for Dennis in my garage. :-) I think it was a 6'8"R Clark blank that we cut 6 inches off the tail. If you don't mind the expense, just about any surf shop can make you one...or you can make your own. Alternatively, Hyperlite makes a 5'11" complete with meat clever fins that should make you feel like noseriding. :-) Something we discovered while longboarding is that you don't really want a TALL wake, you want a long pocket, which allows you to walk all over the board. At one point during the day Dennis buried the tail in the curl and had both feet in the first 18 inches of the board. With the size of that board, we could easily bump the speed up 2+ mph over what we normally ride at. You could use a true long board shape in the 8 foot range with this wake and speed setting.

Sean, I'm just glad to see you out of a damn dry suit... wait, that might not have come out right... take 2.

Sean, I bet you're happy you don't have to wear a dry suit anymore, huh?

Jeff - where was the pic taken of Cathy Williams behind the Nelem's Marine Tige?
Old    surfdad            06-14-2006, 5:07 AM Reply
Alabama...shoot I can't remember the name of the lake for sure, but I believe it is Lewis Smith Lake, I can verify that for you, if it's important. Cathy was there to do a clinic sponsored by the folks at Nelems Marine.
Old    surfdad            06-14-2006, 7:34 AM Reply
Now be honest guys, isn't that the most attractive upholstery you've ever seen on a Tige? The subtle blending of blue and grey is magnificent, don't you agree? :-) (Scott, I'm counting on you man! :-) )

must--not--type--obvious...aaahhhh screw it. I know I'm going to get flamed for this, but that's the ONLY thing I'd ride behind a Tige'... not a fan.

Boy, Jeff, you could have a caption contest with that one. :-)

First, sorry for the negative post about Tige', that wasn't nice. I tried to edit it but it's been 30 minutes...

"she's about to pull a trick out of her ass"
pretty much everything else I have wouldn't be prudent to post on this board.

Guys, guys, guys. First, Tige's rock :-) and secondly Cathy Williams is a sweetheart of a professional. She travels to many parts of the US to teach and demo. If I may respectfully request that we keep our comments restricted to what a fine young lady she is. She's a Hottie with a capital H, no doubt...let's show the lady a little respect. We can make fun of Ed Geary though. :-)

not to trash on tiges but for a 24' boat that wake looks week :-(
Old    surfdad            06-14-2006, 4:50 PM Reply
For YEARS you couldn't even order a ballast system for a Tige, then - what in '04 they started offering it as an option - hard tanks that wiped out your storage. It's not a bunch, regardless. Bigger boats require more ballst. I think this is the side view of that boat, it's not bad for a factory stock boat.

Sorry Jeff, I didn't bother reading your profile to notice that you owned a Tige before I posted my juvenile comment. Thanks for posting the wide angle... looks a lot better.

Scott, no problem...say three hail tige's and pray while kneeling towards Texas and all will be well :-) Honestly I don't take my boat ownership personally, I do worry about being respectful to Cathy Williams...she's a good person and I'm regretful that I offered the fuel. So...let's move on to more pic's, eh?

Jeff, I have a place at Smith Lake and try to catch any clinics up there - I guess I'll call Nelem's tomorrow and ask to be put on whatever mailing list. I thought all you posters were from out west somewhere. Very surprised to see a pic on our water.
