How often do you replace yours?

Master Craft recomends every 2 years if I'm correct...

It really depends on how you care for it. If you run your boat dry for even a short time you'll fry an impeller quick. My Sanger (which never sat for more than a week at a time) had close to 400 hours on its first impeller. It looked almost new when I took it out after 2 years. My last X2 went 2 years and 180 hours without any problems.

Personally I'd do it right around 2 years or 200 hours. I'm sure I'll get flamed for that, but I've never had a problem.

I do, however, recomend carying a spare with you. It's a simple fix on the lake and one that could save a ruined weekend.

how hard is it to change one on a Direct Drive. Is there a publication/site that has instructions?

Yeah we most definitely carry spare. We learned that the hard way when we had to limp into the marina with the Fat Sac pump pushing water into the block. Only provided enough water at idle speed but McGyver would have been proud!! Change it at least once a year, its a bastard to do on the lake (especially for V-drives).

Depends on how you care for them.

I got 4-5 years out of the impeller on my old I/O.

The key is to never run them dry. They heat up and eat them selves quickly.

I change it out at about every 300 hours. I've never had a problem, but I definitely have a spare on board. I've got a buddy who's still using the original on his 2002 Centurion.

Never run it dry and they'll last a long time.
