I am about to do some early spring maintenance and cleanup on my '05 VLX. My question is, is there anything that I can do to refinish the brackets that hold up the teal swim platform and the wedge components? The black finish on everything at the transom is faded out and looks like crap. I was wondering about having the parts powdercoated or painted but I'm not so sure that's a good idea.

The rest of the boat is in good shape and will clean up nicely but all of the black metal parts that are typically submerged are ugly. Also, is there a way to bring back the finish on the brass parts such as the rudder?

Any advice from you boat gurus out there would be greatly appreciated.
