Its's going to come down to what is comfortable for you. some like it wide others like it narrow. where do you feel the most comfortable.

jump off a bench onto the ground. Try to do it without focusing on wide your stance is when you land. Just land as naturally & comfortably as possible. Measure how far your feet are.
Works for snowboards as well.

Dimitri said exactly what I did to find my foot stance. I just thought I was wierd in finding it that way. I put the board in front of me and set my bindings at the same angle that my feet were in when I landed and have not had to adjust them yet.

yeah thats a smart way to find it out, but what about side to side motion? i heard it helps ur balance if your legs are farther apart for side to side balance. i wonder if it would be easier to grab if u use a wider stance? it feels like the boards might be closer to your body. plus a wider stance feels like you are bent lower to the ground thus leaving the balance botter cuz obviously u have better balance when u are closer to the ground.
