Did he have 2 or 4?

I was on a VLX this morning with that setup and they are really nice racks. Just slide in this big pin and they pretty much swivel around by themselves. Super smooth and easy, and they look great on the illusion.

I have them on my boat. There are some pics on my page at Wakesides. Mine don't have any pin to pull out?? just push the button in and they swivel around.

he only had one pair. The only complaint I had is he has them mounted on the lower holes and the rope constantly gets caught on the boards when you are picking up a downed rider. I think they will be fine if they get moved to the top holes.

Jam - by pin I meant that buttonish looking thing that you push. And I totally agree with sbt3, the rope got stuck a couple times on the boards so I would mount them on the higher holes.

Yep I agree the rope is always getting caught but on the upper holes you will have issues if you have the Metcraft bimini top. I have the extended one and to clear it I had to mount them on the lower mount.

Jam I like the look of that extended bimini. Does it store well or do you need to take it apart

The only problem I have is they barely touch my tower speakers when they swivel around. I just don't swivel them all the way around.
Old     (tyboarder03)      Join Date: Nov 2003       08-02-2007, 5:35 PM Reply
That is the exact reason why we put ours on the lower mounts. If you don't have speakers no biggy otherwise you're SOL up top really. And the rope has yet to cathc on anything in the racks or the racks themselves, with the exception of my 06 Byerly/can opener.

do yalls swivel on their own

a friend has them (i think that's them) on his 'Bu and I got hit in the head a few times while just cruisin

I put just stock racks on mine

might upgrade eventually

Thanks Cliff... It throws an okay wake too
PS I really miss the graphic you have... We had those till our dealer water tested after a repair and scratched em all up on the dock.

Are you running the 383?
Old     (ord27)      Join Date: Oct 2005       08-02-2007, 8:08 PM Reply
yup
had to go with the hammerhead

my dealer warned me that on resale I would not get anything out of it

but

I love it

it does put out some exhaust

I hear that the cat manifolds are offered on the '08 hammerheads

I asked them yesterday if I could upgrade the manifolds

he said that he needed to make sure that the engine box is the same size as my '07

Cliff,

What do you mean "put our some exhaust"? Sound or what?

I just ordered an '08 w/HH and CATs. Can't wait!
Old     (ord27)      Join Date: Oct 2005       08-02-2007, 9:14 PM Reply
the hh has a great sound
and that cam can sure be felt at idle!

but without the cats....the exhaust smell is pretty strong

I hope to be able to add the '08 cats to mine

and Tyler, I did reprop...with the acme 1235
that thing now would pull a house out of the water!
It did go from a 53 top end to around 44 mph
Old     (ord27)      Join Date: Oct 2005       08-02-2007, 9:16 PM Reply
well....top end being 5000rpm
I haven't pushed it past that...and probably wont

Larry your gunna love it!

the new gas station down the street is selling regular for $2.68
the boat is on "e" , guess I'll take advantage while the price is still "low"
