My dad & my father-in-law have both decided that if I can do it, they can too. They are both almost 50. I already threw my back out this year, really hurt all week long, you would think that would make them reconsider. Nope, now the dads are competing to see who can get & stay up the longest. So far, the longest is about 15 seconds. It must have been the hardest fall I have ever seen too. Wish I had the camera.

My good buddy's grandpa, 60+, learned to wakeboard. He is a long time waterskiier though. He rides pretty well, I think he goes w2w, but thats about it.

Dave...that is the best answer so far!!! I started at 48 and I will be 52 in 2 weeks. My pro surfer daughter got me started. I train once or twice a week with Brent Baum of www.SoCalWakeboardinstruction.com. I also have a personal trainer who does wakeboard specific training. During the winter I do cardio 2 days and training 2 days but had to cut back to 1 day cardio, 1 day personal trainer in order to do 2 days wakeboarding. Positive mental attitude about your age and just plain good genes helps too. AND..I just landed my first HS w2w 180 today!!!

SoCal, that's awesome. I just turned 30 last Sunday and plan on doing this till I can't do it anymore, then take up wakeskating

I remember the first time I threw the HS W2W 180, it's a great feeling. CONGRATS!

My old man is 57 and rides like a mad man still. He can do w2w's and 180's. He charges the wake like a crazy man and it scares the family! .

I started at 43, 48 now, and have NO intentions of slowing down. I care to do nothing else but hang on the boat with friends, and board all day. I would do it 5 days/week if I could. Everyone I ride with is younger than me. Not sure if that is a good thing. I don't try to keep up with them, but have a blast! I definately need to make it to a camp though. Maybe soon.

Never too old

Yea, glad to hear your never to old to start. I'm 33 and was wondering the same thing; since I'm just getting started. I can get up fine and ride and switch, but when it comes to jumping, olling, thats a different story. At least i have time to get better

I met a couple last year in Switzerland snowboarding. They were in there mid 70's and had been boarding for 5 years. That means that they started in there 70's. I told him about wakeboarding and gave him my friends contact info in Germany. His wife and he bought two wakeboards and are now, as far as I know, still wakeboarding at the cable way in Germany. So starting to board in your later 70's. Inspiration to all the old folk.

We started pulling a 60+ rider last year. Probably depends most on physical condition of the rider and desire.

My parents Both wakeboard and even wakeskate on occasion. They are a little pickier about the water conditions though.
