My buddy has one one of these on his 2005 VLX and it is still in good shape and there is no damage that I have notice to the transom. The pad seems thick enough to provide the needed protection. For $60 available on the link sounds like a great deal. I do not think you will be disappointed.

I have one and love it. they tend to fade a little but better than buffing for hours

dito. we have one, and it was a great investment. we had tons of scratches back there, buffed 'em out, and bought a pad. before, everytime i would hear somewhere banging the transom, i would cringe. now, no prob.

thanks for all your help! looks like I have something else to add to the buy list! but this one will leave me with less work to do in the long run.

I will have the new site up soon, transom pads will be available again by mid-march. The new ones are a little more expensive, but the middle is 6.5mm neoprene. We also re-designed the trailer guidepads to have adjustable bottom elastic. they will slide right over your existing ones if you order just the sleeves.
