I'm still a beginner but from the sounds of it if the board is slipping out from under you on landing you might not be on edge when you land..
I have also heard ppl say that the way you take off is the way you will land so maybe you arent edging hard enough before you hit the wake so that is why you arent getting enough air..

but like I said.. I'm a beginner and could be totally wrong

dont let up on your edge until you get as close as possible to the wake, this will create your pop...

like the other people said, dont let up on your edge, but also think about getting good pop and pushing off the wake and standing tall (if your jumping heelside)

Slowly increase your edge / line tension until it feels like youre gonna scrape your shoulder blades in the water right before you hit the wake. Extend your legs out and boot into orbit.

when you land keep edging like you were before you took of it will help make the landing softer and easier

"pop" is confusing untill you feel it. if you know how to ollie, try that right up the wake and make sure youre on edge when you do.kick your back foot down off the top of the wake and it will "pop" you up higher. be sure to stand tall at the top of the wake.

hey guys i need some tips on landing. i skated for about 6 years and just stopped due to ankle problems. my girlfriend just got me into this this season and i cant get enough of it. i can get a little bit of air but not enough to clear the wake. and when im in the air my board just nose dives or wacks out on me. how can i land with out face planting?

adam,
the rope handle is the key, it is the way to adjust if your takeoff is not perfect. Usually lower handle position like belly button height will keep you from getting your top half pulled fwd.
