Not a huge fan. Did they get the idea from some skateboards at WalMart?

I like the Submarine one.

reminds me a bit of the toy machine style

these graphics seem more like snowboard and skateboard graphics. wakeboard graphics tend to be pretty plain

i like it

where are these made? who owns the company?
Old     (qjeezy34)      Join Date: Oct 2008       10-26-2008, 7:51 PM Reply
I am not sure what all info i can disclose but they will be making flex boards and stiff boards in same sizes and shapes to suit the rider preference and thy will be doing a few things never before done as well. Im not sure who owns them but i believe they are based in CO. Thats Colorado not the overhyped wakeboard manufacturer Company wake haha just playin, i got nothin but respect for Company

Wait... are we still going to be able to "vote" for graphics? The September issue of Alliance had a giant spread introducing Humanoid that had some little thing in the corner about "voting." did they decide not to do it? is it already gone by and we missed it? or was it just for some vip people to vote on so to speak? or maybe i miss read it?

interesting ad though by the way... just like the graphics. not sure what some animal lovers would think of a manatee skin draped over a bomb though ;)

My personal favorite part is the wakeboarder being towed by the air-plane (almost unnoticeable)... but i am undecided about the octopus wrapping its tentacles around the dead body of a second boarder...

Also, here is another li'l blurb in the Oct/Nov issue of Alliance as well for all you my friends that missed it, or to just see it again.

...with a slight bit of detail on the tip and tail for adjustable fin placement...

sounds to be at least one "never done before" thing that is already known. i guess that the li'l nubs on the corners are the things the review speaks of.

maybe they are abs-in-material and can be filed down for a different fin config??? total guess here

Im not sure about the voting thing at all but ya they have some very interesting board design ideas that will definitely be revolutionary to the progression of our products.

no i dont ive never really been into threads or posting on them at least thats why i never post, but i have been talking to humanoid about possibly riding for them and I asked what type of boards they were making so they sent me some info and the graphics and said i could post them on here for everyone to see. I dont care if you dont believe me ive got nothing to hide but if you have any questions i will try to get an answer for you and email them or something.

jerm,

ironically, (if it can be called, "ironic") the other post is a video post of some rail riding on a slingshot. http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/1/637024.html?1224348511

I was actually thinking that the other post might have been humanoid related, just like the anomynous poster for the first leaks of Co. wake

If you want a flex board convo, talk to Jeremy, he is KING apparently. Is there not anything "flex" that you dont bring up?
Old     (qjeezy34)      Join Date: Oct 2008       10-27-2008, 6:36 AM Reply
Jeremy, I am all about flex too thats what intrigued me about humanoid, that and the fact that they arent basing their product release on hype. They are just going stand by their product. See I dont work for them, right now i am still riding that slingshot set up you see me riding in the video.

I have yet to ride a flex board but I definitely wanna try one out eventually since I used to consider my self primarily a snowboarder who wakeboarded to wait out summer but It's the other way around now. I also ride cable about twice as much as I ride behind the boat so flex is starting to look pretty good.

Call me crazy but I'm just not feeling company because they are really hyping it up and everyone affiliated with them on this board swears it's so much different than slingshot without ever explaining how.

I'm starting to think flex boards are cheaper and easier to make than traditional wakeboards because of the amount of companies offering flexboards coming out in such a short amount of time.

I'm sure humanoid boards will be identical to slingshots and company boards but I like their graphics approach (resembles skateboarding) and I like that they haven't flooded everyone with advertising while their still sorting stuff out.

Darren, the cool thing about humanoid is that they won't be like slingshot or company! I swear by Slingshot, I ride the response 145 and PB Floyds and love it. Love the flex, love the speed, love the style, they're just fun boards.

Humanoid is a flex board with bottom features, that is what makes them unique. they are taking the flex tech that slingshot brought to us to another level and giving it something other than a flat bottom that you have to put on edge to get to stick. I'm super stoked on this new innovation and can't wait for the boards!

Ya man im right there with you on the hype thing im over all the hype flooding our industry. Companies need to just stand by a well produced product rather than hyping it up beyond belief. This next year should be interesting with all the new companies emerging.

Josh, im glad you brought up the bottom feature thing i didnt know if they wanted me to bring that up so ive been biting my tongue haha.

Im pumped to see what they come out with.

I have a real humble but enjoyable bag o wake tricks so I got to build a reputation somehow.

But, yes there have been occasion (like this one) where someone else "brings it up" and i just add to it

for now i am just an average guy who is fond of wake news and especially advancements and thinks flex is at the fore front. i guess my fondness is my "crown" eh?

"I'm the Flex talkin', Lake Powell lovin', wake-inspired-pancake flipin', Mandarin Chinese Speakin', wakeboardin' foo'" --> yup, that's me

Hey man anytime you wanna talk about flex im in i would never ride a stiff board again haha i have "converted" my whole college team to the religion of flex haha

I think in addition to "King of Flex", Jeremy you should win the award for "King of Goofy Ass Smiley Faces". You have one (or two) for every emotion but they never repeat. That takes skill. "Average Guy" he says, don't sell yourself short, you are a king.

As with any new gear, I'm looking forward to seeing what comes from Humanoid. Flex with features has my interest, Company with hype (as much as I like Randall & Eddie) has lost my interest.

So is humanoid making bindings as well? I'm really more interested in knowing their hole patterns though. I'm guessing able to fit slingshot/company bindings as well as all the rest?

I'm probably definitely gonna have to try one of these out next year if they don't have an unreal price tag. Slingshot was the originator of modern flex but those graphics are sick and I like the idea of features on a flexboard I would just hope that they stood up to rail abuse.

Darren (snowman89),
I am willing to bet the boards will stand up to rails from the descriptions in the aliance mag and other reports, plus it is an expectation for flex boards. they are suposed to be ya?

And i too want to know about bindings and 4 hole paterns... ohh i hope they will support the 4 hole wave!!!

and here is a repeat post from a thread a while back (http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/1/630472.html) on humanoid. it is an email conversation i had with them, and had permission to share.

By Jeremy Byrom (wakerider111) on Wednesday, October 01, 2008 - 11:05 am: Edit Post Delete Post
So i decided to send an e-mail to the info@humanoidwake.com (for and behalf of myself and other wakeworlders) and thought i'd share
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MY e-mail:

I was on Wakeworld.com discussion forums and found this discussion http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/1/630472.html?1222631995

Seems it sounds as if your company may be into flex boards as well, like slingshot and company wake? at least this is what i gather from the afore mentioned discussion topic on wakeworld

It seems, from what i have gathered from your introductory web site, you will be "dropin' late '08" does that mean a product or just more info?

is there any light you can shed for me or even for us, passionate wakeboarders on wakeworld?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The reply:

Yeah we are making two different flex dynamics depending on the rider's preference. These boards are completely different from the core material all the way to the shape design. Yes, we utilize the same sandwich construction as slingshot and company but we also have channeling built into both the flex and stiff versions. You can learn about our materials and shape in the new goods section of Alliance Magazine. I appreciate taking time out to find out more about us. We are starting completely grassroots from a sponsorship standpoint. You will be able to ride your way up through the ranks for sponsorship in a social networking feature built into our website. We decided to work with the top designers and engineers in the wake industry instead of the riders at first. Our products will speak for itself. You can learn more about us when our 2009 website is up and running in the next couple weeks.
