Best wakeboard boat for under 5 G's?????????

guys,

with your help i decided to sell the fishing boat. please recommend some manufactures/models
that i could have fun with wakeboarding on for under $5,000. I know its not alot of $ to spend on a boat, but thats about all i have right now. I was considering getting a bayliner (what i learned to wakeboard on) but am hearing some negative stuff about them. What other type of used boats will be satisfactory?

I'd go with an older nautique, mastercraft, supra, etc....add an extended pylon, and weight that bitch down.

just make sure the transmission is working good if you weight it down. I know a lot of people kill there engines that way.

so you guys think a bayliner isnt worth it?

Bayliner's are low end boats and it wont have a very big wake. If You want a nice wake try to find a direct drive or V drive inboard.

walt, pardon the newbie....whats a direct drive and whats a v drive inboard?

inboards- direct drives and v-drives both have their props under the boat, good system. D drives (direct drives) have an engine in the middle of the boat and the driveshaft goes straight from the engine to the water. Very efficient. V-drives have their engine towards the stern of the boat but its flipped around backwards so the drive shaft faces forward, towards the bow. Then the drive shaft is relayed backwards to the rear and through the hull of the boat. Both are definately better than a bayliner which is an outboard or an i/o,they are very ineffiecient. Try to find a 80's mastercraft or ski nautique. It will be worth it.

Don't get many V-drives around the 5K mark!

Get an old nautique. Should be able to get an early 80s ski nautique for 5K. Most likely tatty but hey you can always fix her up.
