The water temp thread got me wondering.....how long till your first ride?

I don't even want to hear it from you guys who are still riding, or crying that the water is only 40 degrees. This is for those who still can walk, or in many cases, drive their truck, across their lakes.

I know with the winter we've had, it's impossible to nail down dates....so at what point will you start riding?
My buddy says he won't get the boat out till the water hits 50, while I want to get out as soon as there's enough water to run the boat, and wouldn't mind jubbing some ice chunks! Just make sure I get the drysuit zipper all the way closed (I read the boat pranks thread too!)

Usually my first boat set is on the May long weekend at our cabin, but we'll see what happens this year. Might have some other options to get out earlier around home. Heading to FL on Friday for a week tho, so hopefully get in some cable sets. Apparently there is a cable in Fort Myers??

Ive ridden 7 times in 2010 so far. Going tomorrow to make number 8. Ive never seen our lake get below 51. One of the many perks of being in Nor Cal!

Hoping for April 2nd if the weather and ice coroperate. It's in the high 50's today, with some 60's this week. If it stays that way for most of march I should be good. I do expect one more big snow storm in either march or april

It's funny my buddie David and I just set dates of Mar 20th or 21st, the lake is still more than half frozen but with these temps the open water is coming. Might not be the warmest but it will be the first set of 2010.

Revolution is located in Fort Myers, right near FGCU where a bunch of my friends and I go. Hit me up when you get in town, and I'll get all of us to head out to revolution and ride!

I'll hopefully be out when air hits 60-65 degrees. I don't care about the water, because I don't have any way to measure it other than stick your hand in and see how long till it hurts!

Thanks man, I'll try to remember to do that. Is there any reason to bring my boat board down, or just slider board?

We've gone out in March some years and other years, like last one we didn't get out till May 15th.
I'm up for boarding as soon as the ice is off. I've also trunked it in 40 degree water. Came out of the water nearly blue.

My first run will be this weekend behind a brand new a22 axis. The water is supposedly 50 and the air will be 52 and 58 on saturday and sunday. Should be interesting to see how the boat actually is and I will be wearing nothing but a top and boardshorts.

I'm hoping to get out this weekend. I would have been out earlier but I've been really busy and we've had an extremely cold and long winter (like most of the U.S.). I've been doing the regular maintenance stuff on the boat this week and plan on finishing it up on Saturday morning, maybe going out Saturday afternoon, but i have no idea at the Temp of our lake/river. I know there is a website out there that shows the temps for just about all the lakes and rivers in the US, but i don't know it. Does anybody know that website, or another one like it? Or I guess more importantly, does anybody know the water temp of the Pearl River in Brandon or Ridgeland, MS? Long shot i know, but i'd appreciate the help.

Can't beat spring skiing. Just get a drysuit and man up. Even my 5 y/o isn't afraid of a little cold H2O. Although I have to say, that it cramps my style to ski with numb feet. Already got 10hr on the boat this season. We are near Tacoma WA

7-8 weeks I tore some ligaments in my ankle about a month ago at Squaw snowboarding. i just started physical therapy last week and they told me I should be back to normal in 2 months. Better that than out for the season. Sucks though. I'm so ready now.

Not to be a jerk but this weekend will be the 4th weekend in a row I've gone riding. It has helped that the water has risen to the low 60s and is very comfortable in my long sleeve spring. it sure feels nice to be in mid-season form and its not yet April! Thank you California for all that you provide!
