It's wide enough to drive a truck on... It should be half that or less! the one in the above pic..

I agree about the rail above being too wide. Its a good stepping stone into trying new tricks on a rail, but not really legit to me to say you landed a hard trick on.

If you don't want to build it, then you should hit the one that looks exactly like the one you sketched that has been up for 5 or so years.

check out the BoardSport Technologies Enterprise at Michigan Tech. They have a 'park team' that builds rails for skiing/snowboarding.

Wide rails stink. Give the newbs a tabletop. Besides a wide rail like that with a crappy surface seems more dangerous than a narrow one.

The Rail is a great Idea! I built one very similar to the one in the sketch but it was only two wide. The key to it is not making it a ride on. Even if the jump on is only 10-12" inch out of the water that will prevent you from getting sucked into the water as you come off it. Yea it sucks for people trying to learn but if your trying rails of this class you should have some skills. Plus everyone can ollie 10" inch or so even if they don't think they can.

hey man i go to that cable park and that rail is the bomb man, cuz newbs can start to learn rails and better riders can put some sick presses and spins on that thing. Look up some videos of mccormicks cable park.

I agree that rail is one of the most fun rails I have ever ridden, its all in how you ride it.

Let me add that the problem is not really building it, I could build it I just don't have the funds to build it legit and long enough. I want to put it and some other rails somewhere between grand rapids and Kalamazoo

I know someone is in the works of a system 2.0 which would be sweet but i think a cable would be the best, get the most peoples riding at once...

yeah a cable would be best but I'd take a 2.0 for starters! It just seems like more people in MI are getting into rail riding which adds to the fun of it all. I'd love to see 3 or 4 lakes building rails and then getting all the other lakes to come hit the new stuff. If someone built the rail above you'd have 20 rail riders only a phone call away It wasn't that way a few years ago. Call it progression or just industry marketing changes but its all good in my book.
