The water temp thread got me wondering.....how long till your first ride?

I don't even want to hear it from you guys who are still riding, or crying that the water is only 40 degrees. This is for those who still can walk, or in many cases, drive their truck, across their lakes.

I know with the winter we've had, it's impossible to nail down dates....so at what point will you start riding?
My buddy says he won't get the boat out till the water hits 50, while I want to get out as soon as there's enough water to run the boat, and wouldn't mind jubbing some ice chunks! Just make sure I get the drysuit zipper all the way closed (I read the boat pranks thread too!)

Usually my first boat set is on the May long weekend at our cabin, but we'll see what happens this year. Might have some other options to get out earlier around home. Heading to FL on Friday for a week tho, so hopefully get in some cable sets. Apparently there is a cable in Fort Myers??

Revolution is located in Fort Myers, right near FGCU where a bunch of my friends and I go. Hit me up when you get in town, and I'll get all of us to head out to revolution and ride!

Thanks man, I'll try to remember to do that. Is there any reason to bring my boat board down, or just slider board?

We've gone out in March some years and other years, like last one we didn't get out till May 15th.
I'm up for boarding as soon as the ice is off. I've also trunked it in 40 degree water. Came out of the water nearly blue.

Hoping for April 2nd if the weather and ice coroperate. It's in the high 50's today, with some 60's this week. If it stays that way for most of march I should be good. I do expect one more big snow storm in either march or april

It will be late April or early May before I get my first set in. We are supposed to get some more snow tonight in Denver...... At least I get a long snowboarding season.

Can't beat spring skiing. Just get a drysuit and man up. Even my 5 y/o isn't afraid of a little cold H2O. Although I have to say, that it cramps my style to ski with numb feet. Already got 10hr on the boat this season. We are near Tacoma WA

2 more weeks, I'm pulling the boat out this weekend it clean it and get it ready to go. Next weekend it goes in the water. Hope it still floats.

7-8 weeks I tore some ligaments in my ankle about a month ago at Squaw snowboarding. i just started physical therapy last week and they told me I should be back to normal in 2 months. Better that than out for the season. Sucks though. I'm so ready now.

If it was that cold here in Cali I wouldn't be so upset about it. But its been up in the high 70's and sunny (except for today a small storm rolled in so its colder this week).

Not to be a jerk but this weekend will be the 4th weekend in a row I've gone riding. It has helped that the water has risen to the low 60s and is very comfortable in my long sleeve spring. it sure feels nice to be in mid-season form and its not yet April! Thank you California for all that you provide!

I was hoping the cable would be open on thursday (WI) because it's supposed to be 78 and I can trunk that even if the water temp is low.

Got out yesterday, but didn't have the cajones to actually get in with the sun behind the clouds for most the day. Tomorrow will be a much warmer and sunnier day, so I will get a set in then.

been out twice so far in 2010. 5 hours on 2010 Axis A22. Water temp was 52, air temp 59. no one but us on the lake! Dry suit worked great! Back into rain for a week straight, yuk! will hit it again, as soon as we get a break from the rain. Had the windows tinted while we are waiting to dry out. Gig Harbor, WA.

set the record today for our lake! Air was 82 today in central new york but the water had to be 40 at most (lake just unfroze). Got to test out the newly repaired knee and enjoy the unusally warm weather a bit earlier than expected

Rode in Michigan on Friday. Water was in the mid 60s, air was mid 80s, which is unheard of for April 2. Trunked it of course, no wetsuit necessary. Getting back at it tomorrow morning.

Did a couple of sets this past weekend in the Delta. Costco spring suits rock! Falling behind a new boat still hurts as much as falling behind an old boat. I did get some pointers from my cousin and his friend.

1. Widen stance
2. Try to ride with 1 arm, my 2 arm stance was making me catch an edge.

I'll have pics soon.
