such a thing as a decent diy speaker enclosure?

i'm re-thinking my stereo upgrade and have been looking for a decent unloaded tower speaker enclosure for a 6.5" round speaker. the monster tower speakers look nice, but those are db675's and i'm using mmc650's in the boat so i'd like it to match. i just want something nice, nicer than that liquid audio stuff, those clamps look horrible. i've also seen audioformz, but i'm not sure i like the shape. anybody?

make it yourself using PVC tube as core and fiberglass around it. You can get 6" or 7" pvc at any irrigation yard. Thats what I did with mine. Its being painted now. Ill have pics as soon as they are done

you can usually buy "unloaded" cans on ebay and boss look alike clamps too.

i'm just not up for that much work, i just want a quality can that uses a nice clamp that doesn't cost a fortune. i guess that's too much to ask. it needs to have a 2.5" clamp or a collar to fit 2.5". if monster made a 6.5" can with polk momo mmc650's i'd buy it. ;) or a can that was unloaded that took a 6.5".

I just bought a set and got the 2.5" clamps to go with them. I figure being 8's they'll handle more power and sound better than 6.5'.

yeah, sorry to be so picky, but I really want to stick with the Polk momo mmc650's. i need an empty can.

saw 'em at the Dallas boat show - prices hard to beat. fit and finish is high quality, high gloss. if you already have your speakers they will sell them empty
