Easy Way To Help Haiti - Invest 30 Seconds - Non-Wakeboarding Discussion

I'm sure many of you feel as helpless as I do watching the images of the devastation in Haiti. Red Cross has quite a few ways that you can help out, but I thought this was a very simple one that we can all do in less than 30 seconds without even getting out of our chair.

Text Haiti to 90999 and that will send $10 to the Red Cross and direct it toward this effort. It will show up on your phone bill at the end of the month. I just did it and I challenge everyone who has a mobile phone to do the same. Check www.RedCross.org for more details. Thanks!

I donated $200 to UNICEF. I'm a little pissed because there were 2 donate buttons. One said exclusively to Haiti and the other didn't. But both were over a picture of Haiti. I pushed the wrong one. Hopefully it won't matter.

I heard a report on the radio this morning that said this has generated IIRC over a million dollars already. There is a drawback that it takes 90 days for the money to become available. I guess the phone companies don't part with the cash until the customer pays their bill and they determine that there won't be a charge back.

Donated money to Task Force 2....they deployed yesterday. Task Force 3 might also go. If that happens...donate to me!

Unbelievable what some of those families are going through right now. I sent in a request to volunteer as an EMT through the International disaster center, hopefully i can go over there and help.

Just curious what is going to happen to Haiti after this horrible event? Anyone heard what the plans are? the country is obviously very poor and has no real economy other than being almost entirely dependent on foreign aid?

John, I heard verizon stepped up and is fronting $3MM to ensure the funds get down their quickly.
