Get Transom lights instead of LED'ing the platform. I did quite a bit of lighting this year in addition to transom lights from Abyss I did docking lights and replaced the normal nav light with a pop up, also various LED's throughout the interior.

i think it would be pretty sweet to have leds along the rub rail facing down.... not sure you would do this or if it could be done but seeing that from the distance at night would be awesome.

a nice glow around your boat.

I built a carpeted plywood playpen for the bow area in my boat since all that's ever up there is a 750lb sack. It also makes it easier picking peeps up from the bow area and it keeps the sack about 3 inches lower in the boat. I also integrated this sack into the switches with the fantastic quick disconnects that fly high sells. Now I flip 4 switches and 4 sacks are filling.

I also took apart the front seat to add a bit more "lean" to it. Yes, I drive like I am sitting in a lazy boy (except for dubs). I also lifted the seat just an inch or so.

My next project is an integrated fiberglass icechest/seat for behind the driver since I dont have wraparound seating.

I am also playing with modding the interior for more "rear facing seats similar to the natiques. Since my boat has a pylon right in front of the back two seats I may try and build a "back rest, that attaches to the pylon with spectra so people can sit in those seats and look at the rider with their legs over the motor cover.

Other ideas are: Adding risers to the swim platform so its not so deep in the water when its sacked out. Welding my monster tower at the seams to reduce the sway. Adding an auto flag thats homemade (cheap). Tinting windows. Adding a jump seat for the walk through.

If you ride in the cooler months do you have a good wind block for the bow? What about a shower and heater?

Basically if it bugs me I make a mental note and try to fix it.

Modify your trailer so your boat sits at a 45 degree angle.

You might spear other cars with your tower, but it would look awesome.

The best mod for an older x-30 is the newer rudder. Turns amazing now.

I would like to relocate the driver seat further back and away from side so it could swivel. I need to raise it up so I'm not staring at the windshield frame also.

Satellite radio is working out well.

Tower mounted flag.

Razzman, I never knew of seadeck. I think I'll see if they make pads for mastercraft. The black marks on my vinyl drive me insane.

Done this year:

- added two Bulletlines racks
- replaced both batteries
- installed a pair of Wetsounds Pro80s and ran new speaker wire through the tower
- installed additional amp for the Pro80s and added in an MTX crossover (has separate volume knobs for each output - tower, in-boat, and sub)
- installed Titan tower light
- moved batteries from port v-drive locker to port passenger storage area
- rewired a few things and put in new fuse blocks/distribution blocks for battery move
- upgraded custom ballast from 300s to 550s in rear (made possible by battery move)

Favorite upgrade:

- convinced 75% of my friends to go buy their own damn boards so they'd quit borrowing mine

Still need to do:

- sand and oil the teak swimstep
- get windshield frame repainted (anyone know how to go about this?)
- reupholster a seat that ripped this summer

What's the difference between a wakeboard and wakesurf transom protector?

I redid my heater hot tubes in our '06 wakesetter. Now I have 3 pullouts that reach everywhere I need.

"whistle"....Do you have Ecstasy dance parties on your boat or something?

Old    star_star            09-26-2008, 12:58 PM Reply
the wakeboard transome protector is a suction-cup mounted strip of padded fabric that runs along the top of the platform across the width of the transome.

the wakesurf transome protector is the same material that sticks on to the rear corner of transome and goes all the way up to the rub rail and over to the center of the grab-bar. just a bigger, taller, wider piece of the padded fabric to protect the entire side of the transome.

oh yeah, i forgot to add that i have two mirrors, one cantilevered off of each front tower leg. gives the driver two angles of the rider, or one for the platform area and one for the rider at rope's end.

also, i haven't been to any ecstasy partys. my days on that type scene ended with withdrawal from the pharmaceutical market of the Roer 626's.

Star... was it easy to take out the carpet and just have fiberglass? Is the carpet secured with glue and do you have any pics before/after?

1 more Q - where did you get the suction trash can, that makes too much sense not to have.
Old    star_star            09-26-2008, 7:21 PM Reply
brett, the carpet in my 08 xstar is snap in. however, i never had the snaps mounted into the floor. i have never used the carpet. it is still new and rolled up in the corner of the boat shed. i had the carpet installed in my 08 xstar and once i realized how nice it is to just wipe down the floor at the end of the day i told my dealer not to install the carpet snaps in my 08 xstar after trading up. the snaps screwed in the floor of my 05 xstar always stubbed my toes when walking around in the cabin. no carpet or naps screwed in the floor for me ever again.

i bought the transome protectors, the pocket buddies, the soap buddies and the trash sack from HBP Innovations, formerly known as HBP Products.
