Transom leak...help!

Apparently, while beached at Folsom Lake, my prop hit 1 too many times. All the traffic slammed it repeatedly into the sand. "They" say that it's a problem w/ the transon seal. Do I really have to get the engine pulled out to fix this? Not to mention, an estimate of 3 weeks & 1200 bucks! I'm screwed...right?}

what exactly is leaking? Transon seal as in the shaft input seal?

yes, the transom seal has a breach somewhere.

What is a "transom seal"? There is no such thing. If it's from being pounded on a beach, my guesses are the rudder is leaking, or you bent your prop shaft and it's causing the shaft seal to leak.

If it is an outdrive it could be leaking around the transom seal. Gasket like between the transom and the outdrive itself.

Ah, yeah, his profile says he has a Reinell... That had to be a hell of a beating to cause a leak there, there may be damage to the 'glass or the gimbal mount.

I had an inboard/outboard a long time ago and when we had the transom seal leak it was a little over $1,000. That is one good thing about the good ol' inboard... There is no transom seal!

yes to fix a transom leak on an inboard/outboard you have to pull the motor, if its coming from the the bolts running through the outdrive. check the bead of silicone running the perimeter of the housing around the outdrive if its popped up anywhere that means its shifted and your leaks coming from there or the bolts running through the transom itself.
