My 07 Supra has had some gel coat cracking, in some inconspicuous spots luckily.

For those of you who have had relatively new boats with stress cracks that required some fiberglass work how did the repairs turn out? Did it look repaired or did it look as it did when it was new?

The dealer is on their 3rd crack at fixing it and I can still see stress cracks, there's too much texture in the repaired area(i.e. not smooth), I can see marks from an orbital sander, & it does not appear to have been re-gelled. Looks like crap basically.

I don't think I'm being unreasonable, I think it should look like it did when it was new.

Obviously a lot depends on the capability of the guy doing the fiberglass but I was curious how repairs have turned out for some others.

Thanks.

Gel coat repair should be completely unnoticable, especially on a newer boat that has no fading. I've seen hugh holes and scratchs repaired flawlessly. Your not being unreasonable if the work is shoddy, take it back to the dealer. Unfortunatly however stress cracks will reappear again over time so that is a different matter all together.

Should be totally invisible. I've had mine done 2 times and you can't tell where. Take it back. Sounds like the person who did it was in a hurry or lacked experience.
