I know it is a solid pump but it runs for about 2 seconds than locks. It also locked up on me when it was wet once also. If i open it up it seems to break free with almost no effort. I am going to try the silicone lub to see if that works but checking to see if anyone else has suggestions.

if the pump head is good, maybe the motor brushes? really not much else to them. last time I checked, you can replace the whole head for like $20.

when you say head, you are meaning the pump side, not the motor?

right - the whole black plastic assembly, including the impeller.

Try lubing up the impeller really well with Armor All.

My brushes had gotten rusty. I took the motor out, and cleaned the brushes along with lubing the entire assembly. Been great ever since.

I had the same problem with a new pump this year, it happened a couple of times. I found if I didn't crank the screws on the cap down it seemed not to do it.

Like some of the other guys said maybe the motor brushes rusted to the armature. I have had 2 pumps in my last boat and never had a single problem and 3 in this boat and only the one pump locked like two or three times last summer. Like I said i just loosened my screws, sounds like you have a different problem.
