I hope your New Year's went better than this...

Personally our New Year's was wonderful. We wanted to make sure that our customers, friends, and family all had a great time, so we invited them over to have some dinner, hang out, and shoot off fireworks. Luckily we didn't burn down the camp or destroy anything in general, so we had a successful night.

Unfortunately this can't be said for everyone on our lake. At one point while we were firing off some mortars, we noticed that there was a boat out on the water just idling around the lake. I thought to myself that they probably have a cool view of all the fireworks going off around the lake, but that's as much as I thought about it. So this morning we woke up, went out on the water to do some lessons and this is what we found.





From what we've heard, nobody was hurt in this accident.

Wow....tough to look at but at least it appears that the boat ran aground on a soft grassy area. Could have been a lot worse...glad no one was hurt.

awww ... glad everyone was okay, except for maybe some injured pride! p.s. must be a day to do dumb sh*t. i was leaving target today (after getting to bed early with NO alcohol b/c the power went out last night) and realized i'd locked my keys in the jeep ... with the jeep still running! thank goodness for soft tops, cuz i just unzipped the rear window and climbed right in. glad nobody else thought of that before i did!

Yeah no doubt... I would claim eminent domain... run out that morning and post a sign that says " Any unattended boats will be the property owners after one hour..

a couple years back i put my boat up on the shore( long story, 3 foot deep private lake and a narrow turn) but i hit the shore about 15 or so and only got half the boat out of the water. i'm guessing that that person was doing around 25 or 28 to get it around 8 feet out of the water like it looks.

Sea Tow came out and removed the boat from the yard, which was interesting to see. It took them the entire day to get the boat back into the water. They hooked up a rope to the bow of the X-30 and used an I/O to swing the boat around so that it was pointing towards the lake. We watched the boat rotate on the drive shaft, prop, and rudder so I think it is safe to say that the boat is going to be in the shop for a while. After they spun the boat around, they spent the rest of the day moving the boat inch by inch back into the water. It was pretty impressive seeing the whole process.

If I find out anything else I'll let you know.

So now we know two things... the owner might have been an idiot for driving it up in the yard... but now we know he was an idiot for letting them spin it on the dirt and pull it back into the water... He should have hired a crane for probably the same money and had it lifted up.. check everything underneath,,, and then set back in the water to tow..

why dont just lifted put it on a triler and go to a shop by road ? less money less time and ahhhh anyway i dont like the color scheme so its ok !

Sounds like Sea-tow did more damage to the boat than was necessary. Should have hired two wreckers to sling-it onto a trailer, less damage.

Sea Tow sucks period. Unless you are a "member" they are nothing more than a roving band of legal pirates that will screw anyone in trouble. Their prices for what they do are fricken ridiculous. He was better off hiring a crane for less money - or about 10 creative local red necks and paying them with beer.

don't need two wreckers.. just 1. a heavy duty rotator wrecker. looks like a normal heavy duty wrecker but the boom on the back rotates 360 degrees. They are very common EVERYWHERE. they could have gotten that job done for about 300-400. were they just afraid of getting a little water in the boat by backing down in? it looked like the prop was at least hanging off the ledge there... you'd think they would have just pushed it back down in the water, but i guess if spinning the whole effin thing around on the ground and messing the driveshaft and everything else up took more time, and more time to them...more money.

This never would've happened if it were a Malibu

I heard malibus are the worst to run aground. I saw a pic where the wedge got ripped off and there was a hole big enough to crawl through.That was rocky ground not soft like this pic.

Don't you think the prop, shaft and rudder were pretty much trashed from the beaching?

You mean to tell me this isn't the best way to dock your boat without a pier?
