CONSIDERING BOTH OF THESE BOATS. PRIMARILY WAKESURFING. OPINIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

Of the 2 I would go Sanger all the way, they are very well built boats, you can not go wrong. The avy is a good choice as well, but IMO Sanger will stay solid for many years while the Centurion tends to rattle more as they age. I had a 98 v210 that was much more solid in choppy water then my buddies 06 Centurion. 2yr old Cent vs 10 yr old Sanger.

Demo and note your dealer support. I think they both have similar hulls and I've seen great waves from both. I think it will come down to which has the better dealer for you.

I think both boats are great! The avy is a super well built boat. But sanger owners sure do love their boats, which is a huge plus for the brand. I like my avy because I can throw a competition level surf wave with just custom fat sacs all hidden and they are just a flip of a switch! The Sanger you would need to do lead or fatsacs sitting on seats to get the same wave as I get from my avy. Talk to Dennis in the wakesurf section. He has his V215 dialed! His wave might be one of the best around. But my avy is similar if not better. I think you picked 2 great boats!

X2 on the Sanger V215. Way more solid imo and built like a tank. Cuts chop like it's not even there. A buddy has an '05 V215 and he's not easy on it yet it has not one rattle or build issue of any type in four years.

You'll get a crazy good wave out of that 215. It doesn't need much weight and will throw amazing waves on both side of the boat. Unlike some Cents, you won't need way more weight on one side of the boat to make a good wave; it's the same for each side.

My avy is basically the same on both sides. I will argue that both boats need alot of weight for an amazing wave. Upload

Sanger V215 fo shizzy! I do 1200 in the rear locker and 500 midship in mine all hidden to throw a sick wave killer on both sides. The wakeboard wake is awesome too. The space inside is phenomenal you like everyone else that has one will love it.

I rode behind a V237, basically a bigger 215, and it was running about the same weight as Pain said and the wave was awesome. If you threw that in a 215, the wave would be ridiculous for sure. With it all being hidden, that's the best.

Goodluck with choosing, both boats will give you something to show off.

Hate's wave looks great. Are you using lead or water or steal?

Can't Speak for the Sanger but my 07' AVY handles rough water very well. I would have a hard time believing the 215 is any better..

One plus regarding the Sanger is that the company is now the longest run Family operated boat manufacturer in the United States. Mike and Kathy Davidson will treat you RIGHT and the family has been doing so since 1954. With the recent sale of Correct Craft, Sanger is now the longest run boat company. You don't stay in business that long by not doing the right thing when it comes to your customers! When you have a problem and I don't care what boat you own, you will have a problem, Sanger will be there to fix it!

who/when did correct craft sell?

The Meloons sold out several months ago and are no longer the majority share holder. You can find out more on Planet Nautique if you are interested, although some of the threads regarding the sale have been deleted. Some other guy, who has been associated with the company for a long, bought most of the family shares and is now the majority share holder.

Some of the Meloons are actually selling Mastercrafts now...

Hijack over...

My vote is for the Sanger. I should have bought one from the begining, if only our local dealer didn't suck so bad!

Duffy, I'm using a combo of lead and water in the locker 455 in lead and a 750 Fly High the midship is the stock ballast, also a Fly High.

Bobby, I can't say that the V215 handles chop better but it is amazing. I've been in some very scary situations on a large lake here in WA (Chelan) where she got me and my family home safe. I'm talking about a 12-15 mile run in full blown rollers and white caps where if we stopped water came in over the sides.

Listen either boat is gonna be nice and it'll do what you want I think the one big difference is the company. Sanger is amazing and any time you want you can call Scott Pellaton and he'll help you out. If you can get a year newer and it's the same money I don' think there's a question.

Hate, did The Proshop install their custum underfloor bags in your boat. I talked with the guy down their and they seem to know a ton about Sanger's and have some really cool ideas on what they do to the boats. I think I like the samson towers they do as well.

Just noticed your from Oregon, where are you planning on buying from? Last I heard, Siglers stopped carrying them and they were the only dealer in the state. They do have one 215 left and I bet they would make a great deal on it.

I talked to Don at the Proshop in Longview. There is no longer a dealer in Oregon that I know of. Some of dealers in Central Cal will sell an 09 for about 8k cheaper than I can buy an 08 from Proshop. Service could be a problem

What are some of your opinions about the V230 and V237. Considering a little bigger boat with more freeboard. Have heard of V215's taking water easily over the front. When the 215 is heavily weighted, do you guys run into problems? Is this not a problem in the V230. I have heard the V237 does not have this issue. However, without weight the V215 is still a nice boat to ski behind(wife likes to ski)Does V230/V237 unweighted have an ok ski wake?
Old     (rallyart)      Join Date: Nov 2006       06-10-2009, 12:47 PM Reply
The 215 is already 3200# so, although lighter than anyone else at that size, is getting heavy to make a good ski wake. The 237 has great reviews but you are going make the ski wake worse yet. Absolutely get the hydraulic wake plate if you are going to ski behind any wake boat.

A good skier can have a good ski behind the 215, but it's not the same as a DLX or Response

The V230 will throw a better (IMO) surfwake, but not as good as wakeboard wake. There is a big bump at just about every speed on the V230 and since buying ours the ski hasn't left the garage.

The only time I have dipped the nose of the V230 was when we were loaded for surfing (we replaced the tanks with Fly High 750's), had 8 people in the boat and 500lbs. in the bow. It was driver error as I wasn't really paying attention. Other then that we haven't ever dipped it in almost 70 hours of use.

When loaded down, the boat tends to do some weird stuff (like ride real high on the side...almost like chine lock) when in a tight left handed turn. Other then that I don't really have any complaints about the way it handles.

Been on both boats and if you are going to be surfing the majority of the time if it were me from my experiences on both boats. Avalache. I have no axe to grind sanger people. You guys have nice boats and the wake is great. But when it comes to surfing the Avy is the boat to go with.

Never seen a Sanger, but I know the Avy is a killer wakesurf boat. we used Avys at the last two National Wakesurf Championships.

Great surf wake on both sides.

If your going to compare larger Sangers you should also compare Enzos.

Been behind both. For surfing , Avy is better.

Dennis your wave is sweet! We had my avy dialed yesterday and I am getting air! Only 6 or so inches but hey that still counts:-)

I think there is only one Sanger dealer in the Northwest and that's in Boise, Idaho (good guy to work with!).

http://www.prestigewatersports.com/

I bought a V237 last summer and I have a friend that has an '05 Avy and his wake is bigger but not as long as my Sanger (boats equally weighted for surfing). Love the Sanger, they build great boats.

If you want to ski and surf I think the V215 is the only boat to go with. It's the closest thing you will get to a direct drive pull and wake from a v-drive.

No, The Pro shop in Longview, Wa has been around a long time and they sell Sanger too. http://www.teamproshop.com/ Don and Jason are awesome and very knowledgeable where Sangers are concerned.

Hey KD Amos How are you weighting your V237? I am surprised that the Avy wake is bigger.
Old     (idaho_hillbilly)      Join Date: Jun 2009       06-14-2009, 9:59 PM Reply
Opps, forgot about the Pro shop! I still can't believe that there is only 2 Sanger dealerships in Northwest.

Dennis, I run full factory ballast (1200#) and two 550 sacs on the surf side. If my buddy runs the same set up it seems that his wake is bigger, but mine is much longer. My wake is awesome, his seems to be just too short to do anything. How do you weight your V215?
Old     (dennish)      Join Date: May 2005       06-15-2009, 5:11 PM Reply
K.D. are you running the stock ballast on both sides when you surf or only 1 side. That would be 950# stock ballast.
Old     (idaho_hillbilly)      Join Date: Jun 2009       06-15-2009, 9:37 PM Reply
I run both sides full, then run a couple fat sacs on the side I surf on (1000#). The factory ballast on the V237 is 1200# (600# front and 300# in each back).
Old     (dennish)      Join Date: May 2005       06-16-2009, 6:31 AM Reply
Have you tried not filling the off side when surfing. Are you getting the whole 1000# inside the locker?
Old     (hatepain)      Join Date: Aug 2006       06-16-2009, 11:34 AM Reply
Kick the weight on the non surf side.
Old     (idaho_hillbilly)      Join Date: Jun 2009       06-16-2009, 5:34 PM Reply
Dennis - I can get the full 1000# in the locker with room to spare....man I love the V237!

I'll try dumping the off side. Thanks for the info Dennis and Hatepain.
