Perfect Pass on a bayliner 18.5' with a 4.3V6??

Hello all, just found wakeworld... what an awesome site!!! Anyways i have a ???? Will a perfect pass work properly on my boat.. it's a 2006 Bayliner 185 with a 4.3L V6. Upgrading to a true wakeboard boat is not an option right now and I don't really have anyone that is good at towing... so i'd like to know if this would work..

yep it will work perfect pass comes standard on some stern drives

Having friends what don't know how to drive a proper wake-pull is as good of a reason as any to get Perfect Pass, it'll work. You may be able to hook up Stargazer too, which requires less but costs more.

Yup, we had a Tahoe Q6 with a 4.3 Carbed V6 and hooked stargazer up. Worked perfectly and held speed great. Had to do some prop re pitchings but after we got the right prop dialed in it worked that much better. Stargazer also allows programmable names so thats pretty cool too.

sweet, when i inquired on onlyinboards... the guy recommended the Stargazer version.. but i wanted to here it from people who'd actually tried it. Greg, what pitch prop did you use?? i have a 4 blade 20 pitch right now.

Geoff, we had a 4 blade 18 pitch Stainless steel prop. We tried a 4 blade 19 pitch, 3 blade 19 pitch 18 pitch 4 blade alum and 4 blade 18 SS. The Alum and SS 18 4blades both worked great.

Rockin! thats a good price and good choice on the 18 pitch. I think you will be impressed with it and you will see a considerable difference and quicker to plane and easier to hold speed and then perfect pass will make it that much sweeter!

I just dug up this pic of when we had ours, as you can see the gauge fit perfect in the speedo's spot and matched well.When Perfect pass is off it will still display the speed and time.

cool, i was checking out the gauge sizes and was hoping it would fit right in...

couple more questions if you don't mind....

Did you add any ballast bags anywhere??
Did you have a whale tail?

We added about 1900lbs total in ballast.
We had 400 in steel in the front of the ski locker, 700lb fat sac in the locker, 350 in the bow walkway, 350 above the ski locker and (2) 85lb bags to counter whitewash. No whale tail, I've heard different things about them and when we dropped prop pitch, didnt see a need for it, especially with the Perfect pass.

WOW!!! that's some serious ballast lol!! so nothing in the backend then?? just the middle and front? what kind of wake was it throwing??

Ours didnt seem to like backend weight. We had a really high waterline and freeboard so we loaded the crap out of the bow and middle. We tried the rear with a 350 and it didnt affect it much. I think its just due to the engine being in the back acting as weight.
As far as wake it was respectable for an I/O.
It was firm and had some ramp.

Thanks Geoff, we played around with bag locations, different weights, different props, etc. and that was about the best we got it. It wasnt a terrible wake, just touchy sometimes to people or trim of the motor. Once we got it dialed in, it was pretty strong and consistent.
