board racks in garage

Pic request - please post pics of any board racks, DIY or bought, used to hold the boards in the garage. I'm sure there are those of you out there that have blingy racks for the garage. Please post.

Nice job Jon with the PVC.

I made mine with Rubbermaid shelving brackets and pipe insulation. I can move the shelving brackets up and down any time to change the config or add more if need be.

These are all pretty cool, so thanks for the pics. When I started looking into it, I was leaning torwards the Rubbermaid shelving brackets for simplicity, but wanted to 1) have it angled like all the other ones above to help keep them in place, and 2) protect the board from the metal. Aaron's got issue #2 covered though.

Bevan, how did you drill the angle through the 2x4 board?

I just use ladder racks, .99 cents at any hardware store, 2 per board.

I used this except it mounted directly to the wall. They cost about $5-$7 and have worked perfectly for either surf or wake boards.

This is an old picture of the racks my dad built for our boat garage. He wanted it to be more like what you would see in a wakeboard shop.

Mine's definitely not "blingy," but here it is:

just did mine over the weekend. Home Depot sells padded brackets that worked perfectly, and they screw into the studs. They have angled ones that worked better for boards, and then a straight out version with lip that you then can put a shelf on. They are beefy, padded, and hold 50lbs. I'll try and load a pic.

Derek - I used those for my 2 snowboards originally but with bindings on they seemed to be just below the tipping point. How are they with a wakeboard with bindings?

Ryan, They work fine. They dont feel like they're going to tip at all. BTW, I was at WalMart last night in the tools/hardware aisle and saw that they had even larger hooks, just like the ones I have above, maybe 8" instead of 6" and they're black (my preference). They were $1 each. Hope this helps...

Thought I would share ... made of plywood, painted, door foam from home depot for cushion, and screwed to the roof of the garage for easy access while loading the boat.
