For those upgrading from older boats to something newer, are you having a hard time selling your old boat after the swap?

I have come across some decent deals out there, but I don't know how older used boats are selling and it would be hard to hold on to both.

Nothing special, an older 95 Sea Ray Ski Ray (like a MC Prostar 190)

I think it all depend on price and condition. I think there is a pretty good market for under 10k boats in good condition. Basically - boats people can buy without credit. Higher priced used boats are really hard to sell right now with all the left over inventory and repos. On the plus side - perfect time to upgrade if you have the cash.

I sold my boat after 8 monthes of advertising on Craigslist. I didnt bother with paid advertising though. I don't know if that would have mattered though.

Per 3 of my banking sources, new rules are a minimum of a 700 score and they are running all 3...neither one can be below the 700. They are also wanting a GOOD down payment, 15% plus sales tax and any additional expenses. And it is only going to get tougher. Last summer I was getting deals done with a 640 score.

I can see that Trevor, I am more talking about late model, higher end boats....06 and newer and over $35-40K and even new boats. Alot of banks are booking a brand new '09 by NADA and they are basing their loan approval off NADA and NOT an invoice cost like in the past which in turn requires alot more cash down as invoice on a new boat is much higher than NADA.

I woulnd't be getting a loan on any boat I buy, so it would be cheaper.

Took a month to sell my '03 Centurion back in March/April. First guy to look at it bought...
Used boats under 30k, especially v-drives, are selling pretty good.

We shopped for a few months and considering the economy, the $25k-$40k seem to be doing OK for sellers. I feel people who probably would have just bought new on a $50k+ are re-thinking the amount they want to spend on a boat.

I posted our '05 supra 21v on local craigslist from january-march with not many serious inquiries. I didn't expect to really 'sell it' being that it was non-boating season (I did get a LOT of guys wanting to rent/co-op it if i carried the loan???) but no serious 'buyer' inquiries.

We put in on our local Epic dealer's lot in early May. The 1st 'boat buyer' (aka- 'non-tire kicker') that came by and looked at it, bought it. Sold for $33,700 which I thought was a very fair price.

Put my '95 Sport Nautique up for sale on Friday and sold it on Saturday. I'm thinking I may have priced it too low, but it had 1300 hours on it.

^^I was interested, was waiting on pics, but just saw you sold it. Congrats, if you got that much I think you won.

sold my 97 tige in about 1 month for 12500. I thought is was pretty fair for the market. I then upgraded to an 08 b52 v23 and got a 100% loan from the local credit union.
