Wakeboard & Ski - One Boat???

My husband & I are skiers - ours teenagers can ski but prefer wakeboarding. We're getting ready to buy a "new" used boat (Mastercraft, Malibu, Nautique, Moomba...?) My husband is hoping to find a "sweet deal" for around $10K. Even if we can find a respectable boat at that price I think we'll be looking at ski boats that don't throw a wake worth boarding on. Any suggestions? Price aside, is there a boat out there that serves the multi-sport family??

88 to 92 Sanger DX.....to get a good ski wake, you need to run at 32 mph or better, but the wakeboard wake is generally well regarded.

the sanger ski wake is really hard as well as the sn2001. you wont find a malibu xti for 10K. i would suggest the mc 205 92-94. you masy find one around 13-15K.

Malibu Sunsetter LX, I'm used to boarding behind a Super Air Nautique, my wife was a tournament skier, and we're both more than satisfied. You can find them for around 17k on the low end.

Another vote here for the Sanger DX. These are regarded as among the best barefoot boats as well. Even at 32 the ski wake is a bit big still because of the slightly deeper "V" at the transom, but for this same reason it throws a nice wake for boarding without a ton of ballast and handles the chop among the best out there.

I have 91 sanger DX. I would have to agree with the above comments about the wake. Little hard on the slalom and does not flatten out until about 34 or so. But with a little weight in the right places it can throw a decent wake for boarding.

Have a friend with a '93 MC Prostar 205, great for skiing, acceptable for recreational boarding.
Also agree with Sanger DX. But you're limiting yourself with that that $10k budget,if you can manage just a few grand more I think the search will be easier.

Great hull for both skiing and wakeboarding. It will cost a couple grand to fix up though.
