For me, a loose board = one that breaks loose easy and is easy to do surface tricks.

A tight one = one that holds edge really well and is hard to break loose.

I ride a Byerly with 2" fins and it is super tight. If I ride with smaller fins it is allot easier to break loose. Our water is usually far from ideal and I like the tightness of my board because it feels more stable.

Hope this help some.

a tighter board will be better in the poop because it will be easier to control.
