Okay,
So I'm coaching at a bible camp this summer and there are a wide variety of age groups of kids. I am doing my absolute best to convince kids to try wakeboarding, skating, skiing, surfing, and even kneeboarding. However, I have been informed that I have to pull tubes during certain times. When I do, I try to go as far away from everyone and in bays so the waves setter more quickly, but is there really anything else I should be doing? I hate tubing and pulling them, but it has to be done apparently. Thanks for your input.

Im with ya, I hate tubing. just kills water. Try to do it in the afternoon away from everyone and in the open where the water is typically shot anyways.

We always surf, and I hate rollers, more so than when I used to wakeyboard. It sucks when a big roller comes from behind and just kills the pocket and you fall out.

Good luck bro

Make sure you tow the tuber through the double up.

Funny that a surfer would say that he hates rollers.

"Ethical" Tube Pulling..... isn't this an oxymoron??

Just pull the tube wherever you see the largest contingent of jet skis. Birds of a feather and all-that.

Just tell them you won't take part in a " Unnatural act " It starts out as " casual tubing "& then thing start to turn towards the dark side....

Ha ha ha I already told them tubing on the water that we get most of the time is like slapping God in the face. That's why I put quotation marks around it Charlie. I don't really know if there is an ethical way to pull a tube.

In a straight line at 20 MPH
Empty ballast
No power turns

Only ethical way to do it
IMHO

If you have the $$ try getting one of the new "doables" from sportsstuff. you can drive a straight line and the tubers can do the turning and spining work
http://www.sportsstuff.com/dyn_category.php?k=142247
disclaimer: i have never tried one, but the videos are entertaining...

if that is not an option...

now don't blast me guys... but if you happen to be the only one who is in a canyon or bay if it is a large lake then there should not be a problem. but as soon as you share the water than no.

if the riders want to hit waves, then you will have to hope another boat crosses your path i guess.

when it comes to making big waves for the tube to hit i have found the best way to do it (when no one is around) is to drive kind like a double-up. make a sharp turn to the right, drive straight for a good while, then make a loop continuing to the right and drive the tube into the corner created by the sharp turn and your own wake. many people drive in multiple circles, drive out, then come back and hit the waves made by the doughnut and all it does is waste more time/gas and requires more power turning.

here is a pic of the simple wave making path for tubes. of course you can do all these turns the opposite/ mirrored direction too. the turn can be modified for various desires too. AGAIN, OF COURSE, WHEN NOT SHARING THE WATER.

Lets not start this in this thread too.

any sacked out wakeboat will send fat rollers (wakeboarding or surfing), but powerturning (or tubing) sends bigger rollers in every direction.

Its about keeping the water nice for as long as possible. Rollers straight down the lake dissipate, either on shore or eat them selves when bouncing of canyon walls (test this in your pool). There is a difference.
