ipod cable input

My head-unit died (moisture)which gives me a chance to replace. I see a Sony($150ish) on Circuit City online that comes with a front input and the ipod cable and says you can control from the head-unit. Anyone have comments on sound quality from this type of unit? I will have it hooked to a 4 channel amp and powered subwoofer tube. Thanks for any input

I'm running a Alpine model 9835 (I believe)... I control my ipod via the HU -- it works great and sounds better than a cd. The adapter cord was like 15$

We went even cheaper and got the sony model that was barely over $100. Put it in the pontoon, and it sounds good. Just run it through the eq in the tique though.
