Heading to Shasta for the first time next week. Camping at Hirz Bay.

Any recommendations on where to head for good water?

Also - amyone know if its possible to moor boats overnight on the shore at Hirz Bay?

Matt, we'll be in that same area next week also. 22nd thru the 28th. What's your boat look like? Mine is a 06 Sanger V210, black & white. You don't need to head anywhere really. Last year we had butter almost all day long, every day on the McCloud near Hirz Bay. I'm not sure about shore camping, but I don't see any reason you couldn't set your boat up on an anchor.

Be well prepared for bears. I saw them walking around the campsites and boat ramp in broad daylight, on the McCloud arm. They are a big time problem if you are camping. When they get close just let them sniff your head and keep walking along in their nightly routine of foraging. Guess how I know? LOL

Shawn: absolutely! Where you gonna be at? Never saw any bears myself last year the whole week. But one of the kids saw one when we were out riding. I don't think it helped that Dennis poured bacon grease behind one of the tents! LOL
Then, afterwards his brother tells us never cook bacon up here cuz the bears come from miles around after the smell.
