Seen a lot of post about lead lately. Just wondering if anyone knows of a good place to pick up some lead bricks in the Bay Area, preferably close to San Jose.

Try a plumbing supply store like Cal-steam or Ferguson, both in san jose and they sell the lead in 25lb strips.Cal steam is located on brokaw rd and zanker and the number is 408-441-7276.

$0.30/lb for 60 lb used lead bricks.
$0.50/lb for 65 lb new lead bricks.

They are open M-F and SAT AM.

Bring gloves. Also, consider going to one of those car wash places to blast them clean away from home.
Then you could simply paint them with plasti-cote from Home Depot.
Brush it on. One of the small cans will cover 2 or 3 bricks with many coats.

you should get them at .23 a pound. they sell them at 70 pound bricks but they're really about 55 pounds - so call that on them! they're really greassy. i cleaned mine with acetone two times then coated them with ruberized primer, then four coats of rubberized paint (dip-it). call the company they will ship it to your home in the gallon containers. if you need more info on how to get dip-it through the factory (dont buy it at home depot - they only sell it in like 11oz. cans at a fortune)email me and i can give you all the info.

We just bought (8) 65lb lead coated bricks with handles from Pro Flight. They were $37.50 each.... Bad news..... they are located all the way in Modesto. You can buy them from one of their dealers in the bay area but they will jack up the price.

Here is their phone number...... 209-526-6845

They have other sizes and prices available....
