When I watch the pros and instructional videos it always seems that these guys have the board pointed straight into the wake when they start standing tall. When I try it, I cannot seem to stand copmpletely tall unless I am willing to give up line load. Subsequently I've wasted alot of time this year with inconsistent W2W pop and jumps. The majority of the time I lose the load and have these really weak W2W jumps.

My question is if I reduce the angle of my cut such that when I hit the wake I will be at say 45 degrees instead of 90 (Straight into it), will I be better off? I did this by accident last night and was surprised that I was able to stand tall, get a nice pop, and floaty jump all at the expense of a powerful jump. I'm just curious, because I feel like there has been very little progress in this area for a few months (I am a beginner).

How do you guys think about this when you set up a jump?
