ben, that looks really good, clean, nice lip without to much ramp and trough. How is the weight distributed in the boat? I'm running about 1800 in my 06 vride (obv different hull) and with out the wedge I have more ramp, with the pro wedge down I get more peak. I'd like to find a set up with out using the wedge that would be similar to your shape.

I will take a picture on Saturday morning. I have had great results with our setup.

We run with the wedge up, full MLS, 400lb. surf sac in the bow, 370lb. tube sac in the walk way and a 750lb. fat sac in each locker. At 23mph with 80ft. of line the wake is perfect. It has a great transition and pops like a Pro Tour X-Star.

Spencer thanks I'm gonna have to try your set up. I'm really not a fan of the wedge for boarding. Looking forward to seeing some pics...

Like the Titanic.

Nice looking heeler. I've got two heelers you can have if you want them. J/K

We have about 2500lbs in ours with no one in it. We ride with 4-6 people most of the time and the boat handles fine.

Thanks for the compliments on my heeler, shes a good wakesurfer.
So, we have two votes for good handles and one for the titanic. Which is it?

It's handles good, that titanic comment must have been a joke.
Old     (otiswunguy)      Join Date: Apr 2002       06-30-2007, 5:32 PM Reply
Any boat with that much weight in it is going to handle like the titanic compared to stock ballast.
Old     (riverside)      Join Date: Mar 2002       07-01-2007, 1:27 AM Reply
ofcourse it will drive different,...throw 2500lbs in your car and lets see if you can take your favorite corner with the same speed you are used to.LOL.
A titanic comparison is to much except the vlx will take water just as easily if you don,t be carefull..it scoops in at the front and backside.

anyone know what the song is in the second video above?
Old    walt            07-01-2007, 4:18 PM Reply
NW,
That shot was from last fall.

As far as my Titanic remark goes it wasn't a joke. I think a slammed bu turns really slow in comparison to other slammed boats I've driven. That's just my opinion though.
Old     (hbguy)      Join Date: Jun 2005       07-03-2007, 8:02 AM Reply
Walt, I agree with your titanic comment. Where I ride, I have to make a 180 degree turn in a narrow channel. When my VLX is heavily weighted, I have to really slow it down to safely negotiate that turn. The SAN's seem to make the turn alot easier.
Old    walt            07-03-2007, 11:37 AM Reply
Some times I ride up a river that flows into our lake and I make the turn with ease in my weighted boat. When I've done it in a slammed Bu it barely makes it. They handle just fine for open water but feel like a much bigger boat in tight spots.

This is my 2004 Wakesetter VLX with stock ballast, wedge, and a 300lb sac up front. It's not huge, but it's okay. Also, we have 4 people in the boat. This is about medium weight for us because we usually have about 8-9 people in the boat with all their gear. Sometimes we will add another 300lb sac in the middle with everyone. However, I don't have pics of that right now.

I would say these pics have about 1300lb + Wedge + 4 people, which like I said, is about mid level on the size it usually gets.

I have the Monsoon 340 horse and it runs fine with twice as much weight as these pics. The only thing I have problems with is cavitation on the turns when it's very heavily weighted. But I think that's normal. I just power thru it.

I'll take better pics this weekend.

I will have some for you tomorrow. We are running the quad MLS setup, full power wedge, plus two 550lbs v drive sacks. So 2350lbs + wedge + 8 - 10 peeps = one massive wall of water. 2006 VLX
Old     (liquidmx)      Join Date: Jun 2005       07-04-2007, 4:28 PM Reply
I will add one. This is my 00 vlx with 450's in the trunks, 300lb lead in back seat, 350 in the locker, 500 in the bow. 3 guys and 2 girls in boat, rider is about 5'10", 75ft line at about 23.5 No wedge. When we have decent conditions I usually add another 500lb to the seating area. Sorry I don't have a wider pic. I think the 00-04 hulls are the same; don't quote me on it though.

Nu: No pics last night just vid, but I had 2 pro's who are competing in K town this weekend both say that it was the biggest wake they have been on. They were shocked we were getting out of the hole so fast.

Quad MLS filled with the 2 rear sacks, 4 peeps in the bow with 11 people total. It honestly looks like a wall when coming in, especially toeside.

Here's some poor quality shots of the wake while loaded down as described above, asked the photog to get some nice shots of the wake, but........ buddy had a hard time keeping his thumb out of the pics:Upload

Big Heavy, yeah man! We keep the boat on the water right in front of our place. Usually ride after 5 on weekdays and in the mornings on weekends. Big lake so lots of places to find calm water. Send me a PM and I will give you my cell or 1-800 #.
