Garage Door Size?

I'm designing a single bay garage for my house and a future wakeboard boat, like an X-star or a Super Air. My question is what size garage door should I use? I want it tall and wide enough so that I don't have to take the tower down or have to take the wakeboards off the racks. Any suggestions? Thanks.

We have a custome canopy for our x-star and it measures 12' by 12' by 30'. tall enought to leave the tower up and the swim platform on. 12' wide give plenty of room to walk around the boat for cleaning and maint. 30' feet maybe a little over kill on the length, but we didnt want to have to worry about taking the platform off and we dont need to fold the tounge away either.

Big difference in size between the two boats you have listed. I would get ahold of the catalogs or call your local dealer to get the exact dimensions for both these boats on the type of trailer your going to be using.

I made a gate in my fence the other day that leads to a cement pad that I had poured in my back yard for my boat storage. I made the opening of the gate 10 feet wide.

The trailer fits, but I only have about 4 or 5 inches on each side of the trailer. That doesn't leave alot of room to play with so I have to be pretty much dead on everytime.

In hindsight, I wish I would have made it 11 feet. If you're going to build a garage, I'd make the door at least 12 feet wide.

If you are getting a new Xstar, the racks swivel so all you have to worry about is the width at the trailer.

102"(8'6")is the DOT max for the highway, removable items can be beyond that, like the guide posts etc. Anything wider requires wide load permits and every time it is on the road along with the other limitations (specific roads and time restrictions).

Height varies with boat/tower combinations. 10' would be the minimum, but I'd measure before I built.
