Just a thought... I was watching a few videos in between class today, and started thinking, "Why don't riders grab their boards in the air over rails, or if they ollie off the end of the rail?" Then I realized I don't think I've seen it in any video at all. It doesn't seem to be a question of air, or timing at least from what I've seen. Has this been deemed unstylish at some point that I'm not aware of? I think it'd be pretty cool. Just a thought.

One of the Shredtown dudes (think it's Adams) grabs while on the rail. Video is on their blog.

I'm not a great spinner so I always grab out of a rail and or 180 out. Everyone always just makes fun of me for grabing...

I think it's one of those things where the powers of wake boarding looked at it and said "snow and skateboarders don't and neither should we." Personally I'm okay with that, the quickest way to make a rail hit look unstylish is to bend down and grab. There is just too much going on. Smooth and controlled is what makes a good rail sesh.

I think the most stylish moves are the ones that noone else does, even if it is as easy as grabs off a rail.

Lame-o. You should be pressing enough on a rail to look steezy without a grab. To me they just looked forced... possibly if your are gapping something big but otherwise its kinda like wearing gloves

I wouldn't big big on the grabbing of a board WHILE ON RAIL, but I was thinking on something like an /--\ (A-Frame) rail, if the gap over the top was aired out, i think a boardslide up, indy with a backside 180 to back boardslide down would look pretty sweet. Luker was right with the press though on a rail, nothing better.

do whatever makes you happy, wakeboarding shouldnt be about rules. Grab what you want. And snowboarders do grab spins off of boxes that have big drops off the other side. A method grab while gapping an a big a frame would be sick i think!

Ive totally rocked pants over a wetsuit in winter, looked a hell of a lot better than boardshorts...flame on! The best I saw was this real good ol boy that I had ridden with a few times and he rocked his wranglers...it was awesome!!!

I think it would look sick off one those incline rails that just drop off. That shred town dude that grabbed while on the rail also grabbed while bonking the pole too i'm pretty sure. Granted It probably won't look cool of a flat rail where you would have to hop off but on an incline rail where you launch off it could look good I bet.

you'd need a big gap for it to look stylish. grabbing off the end or from a little step up would look way to rushed. but yeah, i agree that a grabbed backside 180 would look sick from one side of the a-frame to the other

If your in the air above a rail, box what ever than it definately adds style but on the rail is kinda like doing a fashion air,fun to do but wont win u any points with the ladies!! Plus the constipated position that u have to get into to grab on a rail just isnt that appealing imo,but like someone already said,if your havin fun than thats what it is all about eh.

Our boat rules are that your set ends the minute you pull a fashion or a roast beef. The rules only apply to riders over the age of 10 but you better believe we will stop the boat right in the middle of your set for pullin some sh*t like that

Roast Beefs ARE SICK when you if you turn them into a Roastbeef Glide. Ben Axell (hawkeye7708), Skip the Roastbeef with the board up in your face, Grab Mute INstead and take it to 180!

Andy, I've tried doing Mutes 180's into the flats before, but never tried putting the board up that way and grabbing mute... I'll have to give that a try... I guess I'm alot more comfortable holding onto that handle with my left going up like that... hmm.. although mute like that would put it in prime time for the 180. Good call. It'd look pretty sweet. You just added another trick to the 09 List haha
