You have a cable to connect the camera to the computer? It looks from the Canon website like you need a USB cable...

If you've got that, boot up Final Cut Express, open the 'Capture' tool, turn on the camera, and you're ready to go!

I just upload the video through imovie then import them to final cut. I have a hg10 and a mac book pro so you shouldn't have a problem with that method.

is it an hg or an HV cuz if its an HV you need to change the file settings in FC to HD settings otherwise it wont recognize yer camera!

In FCE 4.0, use Log and Transfer.

FCE should have presets for that cam. An HV model would use a firewire cable and the "firewire basic" preset (I think, it's been a while since I used my HV10.)

Also, the HG20 must be connected to the power adapter. Wont upload if it isn't.
