I am putting all new speakers in my boat, and new amplifiers. A few questions....

1. i have a rockford fosgate 600.1bd amp that i am going to use for my sub. my sub is a boston acoustic g5 12 inch... my amp has outputs for 2 speakers, but it is a mono amp? do i need a dual voice coil sub and run the "a" channel to one vc and the "b" channel to the other? the instruction booklet shows a diagram for running 1 speaker, and it is just hooked up to the "a" terminals. then would i run the dual vc's parallel inside the box? or should i just get a single vc sub? my goal is for the amp to see a 2ohm load.

i'm working on this for the rest of the week, and i'm sure i'll have some more questions... i'll post some pics when i'm done, or possibly tonight if i get a chance.

thanks in advance.. and if i forgot to post any pertinent info, let me know and i'll post it asap.

oh, i also have a kicker 400 watt mono amp... would this be a better amp for this sub?

I would not connect the voice coil to different outputs on the amp. I would parallel in the box.

C.R.- The Boston sub you have comes in either a single or dual VC configuration. G5124 (Single) or G51244 (Dual VC). You want a G51244 to get a 2 ohm load on your amp. If your woofer is a G5124 then go back to your shop and buy a G51244 SPS (Soft parts system) and you can make your sub a DVC (Dual Voice Coil) sub. Then you will simply run a positive and a negative speaker lead from your amp to your sub and follow the directions on the sub for a 2 ohm load. This means that you will be using both sure set fuses in the woofer. Then start rocking. Remember that your sub only needs 1 cubic foot of airspace in a sealed box and for extra punch you can add a GTR passive radiator.

Cheers
Scott
