Lucas Magoon aka The Gooner or Goontown calls this the "Harlem Shuffle". At least get it right.

Just giving you a hard time.

Ya i debated calling it the harlem shuffle but I wanted direct Magoon tribute bc he shreds. Plus us wakeboarders dont seem to name tricks as the correspond in snowboarding haha

Call it what it is. My vote is for "Harlem Shuffle". Gooner is the man on some rails for sure.

I can't wait to hit the rails at KC, I got a few snow inspired ideas of my own for this year.

or change it up to the "Gravity Shuffle"

Gravity Shuffle is sick a tribute to GRC and Magoon... I like where your heads at

I thought that was called duck walking in snowboarding ?
Old     (jmuthafnp)      Join Date: Feb 2006       02-05-2009, 2:32 PM Reply
It is called that in snowboarding, but Lucas Magoon started doing it on rails and dubbed the "Harlem Shuffle". It may not look hard, but it is hard as hell to do on a rail.

Props to Quinn for bringing the Gravity Shuffle to wakeboarding. That's right you heard it here FIRST. Another new trick has been invented and probably way more fun to do than a 1080.

Oh so if you are just straight up walking its called duck walking but on a rail its called harlem shuffle, but then for wakeboarding its now called the gravity shuffle ?
Old     (jmuthafnp)      Join Date: Feb 2006       02-05-2009, 3:28 PM Reply
Yep! Quinn named it that today, since he was the first to do it.

Personally, I think it might catch on

looks lame as hell, I'm sure it's hard to do though, pretty much the rail equivalent of any raley trick
Old     (bill)      Join Date: Feb 2001       02-05-2009, 5:22 PM Reply
ill stay neutral on this for now but i would think ot would be harder to do on a true rail something thinner with more difficulty would give it more credibilty IMO.That slider top was almost as flat and wide as the board and didnt seem as hard as it could be ..
Old     (hsryan33)      Join Date: Jan 2009       02-05-2009, 5:54 PM Reply
aj racinelli used to do that on his wakeboard. i dont know if he still does but it looked pretty cool.
Old     (lfadam)      Join Date: Nov 2008       02-05-2009, 6:36 PM Reply
how would that be possible on a thin rail? I think it has to be board length wide or at least close
Old     (qjeezy34)      Join Date: Oct 2008       02-05-2009, 6:48 PM Reply
Its definitely a box trick just adding a little flare, difficulty, and entertainment to boxes since they are not too exciting to watch.

interesting!

what bindings are those? i want to say they are an early release of the D3 boots with the white soles and you painted them blue?
Old     (qjeezy34)      Join Date: Oct 2008       02-05-2009, 7:26 PM Reply
No they are just jazzed up D2s I painted them
Old     (joshbuzz)      Join Date: Sep 2007       02-05-2009, 11:19 PM Reply
equivalent to a raley trick on rails? There's a reason snowboarders don't like most wakeboarders, you have no style or originality.

Josh,are you referring to me?

I watched it again, it's growing on me, pretty sweet in a way I guess, get some footage of it on a rail instead of a box and throw it up
Old     (magellan)      Join Date: Feb 2003       02-06-2009, 8:07 AM Reply
Don't ever, ever, ever, do that again.

i like it!

Ya Im definitely gonna do it again it's fun... Why so serious? haha
But like I said its one of those things that will be more effective on a wide rail or box and if you think about it, on that wall im riding, once you transfer to that top like I did your just going to be pressing the whole thing or riding the whole thing so I was just being creative I guess. And yes.. It does grow on you, I wasnt too stoked on it once I first saw my footage but it grew on me ALOT.

I vote "don't"....

don't name it and don't do it again.

Haha I wasn't talking to you Quinn, I'm a huge goon supporter, and appreciate any snow steeze done on a wakeboard I was referring to your haters...

i dont think you can name a trick like that. 50/50, lipslide, nosepress all have the same names from snow to wake and aj was doing those at the cable park awhile back.

I'm pretty sure the snowboarders did it on wide boxes as well, I think that would be close to impossible on a thin rail.
Old     (saceone)      Join Date: Jan 2009       02-07-2009, 8:41 AM Reply
I use that technique on flat land when I'm snowboarding
Old     (vinnyp)      Join Date: Jul 2002       02-07-2009, 3:41 PM Reply
I've seen Magoon do it (harlem shuffle) on a 4 inch wide rail down a 16 stair handrail.... it is def "do-able".... but it's gonna take some GOON -ish type skills to pull it off. Lucas is the king of rails on a snowboard.

The snowboard kids around here call it a "Crip Walk" or a "C Steping". Pretty funny to watch kids bust hard trying to learn this trick.

Small request. Can you do a "Michael Jackson" next. It is where you do a boardslide and stand on your toes the whole way down the rail.

I am a big fan of goofing around. Lately, we have been doing Tripods all over the mountain.

I will have to try your new trick this summer on my wakeboard. Good Stuff.

I heard that the boardslide on your toes is called the "thriller"
