I've been killing my alternator and need to replace it. It's not charging my battery anymore. I'm not running anything too crazy, I've got two amps, two batteries (perko switch), tower lights and the factory ballast pumps.

What are some options? Thanks in advance.

Upgrade to the 90amp if you can. MC has a retro-kit w/new brackets.

Whelp, cool, but I'm not 100% sure the two match up... do you have the X1 engine in your 06?

I have the 350 5.7 standard motor (non-mcx). Lemme know how much and you may have a deal. Thanks!

"It's not charging my battery anymore"

Your alt is not a battery charger. This is why yoru burning your alt up...you'll more than likely do the same to the 90 if you keep up the smae behavior. If you wanna use it as a charger...drop the $800 and go with the balamar setup.

You need bigger.more batteries. or don't let them get run down so low. spend $50 and get a good trickle charger you can plug in after every use.

Thanks, Sam, I should have mentioned that I have a trickle charger that is stored in my boat and it's the last thing I do before I put the cover on.

I understand that alternators are not battery chargers, I should have phrased that differently.

I have two Optima Blue Top batteries that are separated by a perko switch and turning any single electrical device will drop my volt meter to 12V. Two pumps will result in the battery alarm. Nowhere near the 13.7 it should be putting out.

^^^ Even with a measly 65 amp ( stock alt) , you should not be having those electrical issues. Is that voltage at the dash or at the battery?

It's a 75A and it's the voltage on the dash and testing with leads on the alt.

I agree that it shouldn't be doing this and I've had both batteries bench tested and removed the Perko from the equation with no difference.
